    If all the stock suspension is going to be replaced with LT anyways and both have the same motor, which is better and why?

    The front suspension on the 5-lug and 6-lug trucks are completely different. There are more options available for the 6-lug design.

    In the rear, the 5-lug already has a spring under setup so it will require less fabrication to go long-travel, so that's a big plus.

    Both have their benefits.

    1st gen or 2nd gen?

    I dont know anything about the 2nd gens but on the 1st gen Id take 6 lug. Suspension is only part of the problem on the 5 lugs. Steering rack among other weak points still exist.

    I was thinkin 2nd gen. I wonder if many of the 5 lug parts in a 2nd gen are also weaker.

    I know they make 2nd gen reg cab prerunners in a 4 cyl.

    If I were to do a full LT, I would do a reg cab cuz I think there badass. If they were to put a 6 cyl in a reg cab I would buy it for sure.

    I think the 6 lug would hold up more since most of those kits hold up on heavier trucks like dc 4x4 . Push it farther and you also have a bigger rear diff

    6 lugs also have better brakes. Who cares if a 5 lug comes spring under already, you'd replace the rear leafs with LT anyways and have to move perches and mounts.

    im not sure. i know that toyota builder site doesnt show everything that is made. i never saw a prerunner reg cab on the toyota site but ive seen quite a few of them around.

    I prefer the 5 lug not because i own one, but i prefer 2wd over anything. i've repaired many 4wd trucks at automotive school and i hated all the moving parts it involves. but the ability to put power down to all four wheels is a huge plus. i'm sticking to what i know. :D
