could I use a Coil spring from the v6 model combined with a 3" lift spindle in the front or would that be asking for trouble with ball joints

It would probably ride badly dunno about the ball joints. I had a spindle lift on mine and I couldn't have been happier with that. It makes the stance wider which looks good imo but I destroyed one of my already cut fenders with a tire off roading. So I put glass up front, you could probably fit 33's with spindles, heavier springs, glass, bumper and a BFH

Probably a good idea unless youll use it

Problem is spindle lift can only give me 3.5" max and that won't get me anywhere near 33s thats why i was wondering about the springs. I know how I'm going to do the rear the front is just the issue, i figure as long as i get enough clearance i won't have to worry about the fenders

Five (5) lug noob here. I don't see a sticky FAQ for 5 lugs.

Can someone tell me in 20 words or less what 5 lugs is about and why some Toyotas have 5 and some have 6? Is this a total after market conversion thing or do some come from the factory that way?

Ok and I'm counting so don't waste my time with 21 or 22 words or some long winded explanation like that ;)

Different suspension from 5 lug and 6lug same axles in rear diff hubs and comp dif spindles and control arms up front. Lugs are dependent on sus and both are factory option.

be ready to spend 5000+ with lt. 33s on a 5 lug is a bad idea imo. hubs are weak and ball joint brackets are weaker. I suggest spindles and a maximum of 31" tires and plenty of clearancing. that big a tire will wear down stock components much faster and cost you more in the long run.

Thanks for the info on the 4.11 non-prerunner axle replacement 'gearing fix' for the 5-lug manual.

Since this thread was already bumped up....

If you mean coils from a v6 "prerunner" models no, they use a coilover so not compatable at all.

I run 33 12.50's on my 99 5 lug but it has the TC LT kit and spindle in front and the rear is a whole different project.

Regeared with 4.11's and with bunch of HP gains through everything short of boosting the truck does just fine but I always still wish I had more. Not horrible at all though, Ive done plenty of ligbt towing and everything.

I too have a 5 lug 99 that I lifted and put 30's on. I need new diff gears. The tire calc on here recommends 4.11 ratio. I've called a few places and no one has it. Where have you guys bought yours?
