I think whats aggravating you is that the dealer gave you an excuse that sounds made up, possibly insulting your intelligence after 5 months.

While there surely is truth to new truck delays, thats just a standard excuse they give while they are farming $500 interest free loans from customers..

The problem is you are just on an in house wait list, and while normally salespeople would be banging the phones and the internet to locate a truck for you, thats not happening in this market.

Trucks are coming in , albeit slowly and Im sure you feel like they could be doing more . Maybe they can, maybe they cant.

It may be worth checking out other dealers to see what allocations with future build dates are in their pipeline. But sticking with one dealer in these times is not going to increase your odds of getting a new Tacoma in a timely manner.

The days of walking into your local dealership and getting the truck you want are long gone. Widen your search area and be prepared to make the drive or fly when you locate and secure the truck you're looking for.

I ordered an Amish dining room table in Sep. They told me 26 weeks out-no table yet. Amish carpenters must be waiting on chips too.

I was recently looking at new ones too. It was either a lease a new one or buy a used one. I bought used. same truck just has a lot more miles than a new one obviously. But being in the wrench turning business that doesn't bother me much. Cheaper insurance and registration too. More money for my notchback.

Could be right, could be wrong. Most dealers aren't really that well advised by Toyota, and especially on the state of an individual truck.

    Whenever you want to.

Not nearly ridiculous as many of the other things going on in this country/the world. Consider yourself fortunate that you are in a position to even be worried about a new truck.

Sorry to hear it. It is ridiculous, you’re right. Mostly because it was avoidable and years of bad decisions here and abroad led to this.

it’s probably true that cancelling does no good. But it’s no less frustrating to know that.

How can anyone else answer this for you.

And it's not BS or ridicules, and not just Tacomas and not just vehicles it's just the way it is these days, due to electronics shortages and supply-chain issues.

I've been waiting for a new C8 Corvette for about a year now and it will still be another 2-3 months, not complaining it's just the times we are living it.

Instead of complaining be thankful you can afford to order a new vehicle, as with the high price gas many can't afford to drive the old clunkers they have.

It took me over three months just to get my truck fixed under warranty due to a backlog of just one part.

Pre-Covid it took approximately two months from order to allocation and depending on your region you might not be high on the food chain for a lot of new inventory.

If you want it bad enough you'll wait it out. If you can't get on with your life while waiting then walk and look for something else.

    Why not, Minot!

That's the expression/word on the US Air Force street. lol

I'm happy with the Air Force's decision. Dover was my third selection so I did have a hand in part of the decision.

    Nellis AFB, NV
    Scott AFB, IL
    Dover AFB, DE

Back to OPs current Tacoma & what he's waiting for...

Not sure if he's owned his Taco since 2006 but it reminded me of the time passed.

All of us work towards a goal and attaining it is such an exhilerating/exciting time. I guess I want that for OP.

idk why this devolved into a pissing match but you can expand what you are looking for specificially to help with that but unless your flying somewhere to pick up a vehicle you are going to wait. in the northeast ive checked all toyota dealers within 6-8hrs and no truck for me, luckily my wait is ending in april after 4 months but i had to expand what i was looking for (colors, extra package, 2hrs away)

With purchasing new from a dealer, I would have no problem flying somewhere, getting a hotel, and driving it home. So you add a few hundred to the purchase price.

I've been waiting 5 months for my 2022 AC Sport.
    Delivery date is May sometime.
Hang in there. It will be worth it.
Fortunately, I like you have a 2nd Gen to keep me happy in the meantime.

AC Sport 4X4 is like a unicorn so no chance of finding one elsewhere.
