5 months wait and my TRD offroad is ready to be picked up this weekend. But they damaged it!

It’s not YOUR truck until you sign the papers, cut the cheque and drive away.

If you don’t take it, they’ll replace the plastic piece and sell it to someone else the next day.

Ah ok, that makes more sense. I could totally see the dealership trying to swindle you, but as long as you have a signed paper, I agree, some suggestions are a little strange.

Shit. The first thing I did when I got my truck home from the lot was rip the front bumper off. Ask them if they will mark it down and buy an armored bumper!! Assuming your bought your OR to OFF ROAD you will have more than minor damage to that bumper soon enough.

3 pages and 44 posts? A lot of chatter for a simple fix.

As long as it’s on the due bill you can go back at your convenience and have it replaced. Not a big deal at all-this happens all the time. I have bought 3 new vehicles with minor damage and had it all fixed no problem. One time I bought a new 2002 Grand Cherokee and when I got home I noticed an indentation on the passengers side seat. I drove right back and showed them, they said to bring it back the next day. They fixed it in one hour. I asked the lot porter who they used (I was amazed it was perfect) and he said they just swapped the seat with a different unit. After that I inspected new vehicles more thoroughly. Bought a CPO 335 coupe and noticed curb damage on a wheel. We noted it on the due bill and they fixed it 2 days later and I had a loaner car.

The dealer does not want to do you wrong on this, they do want you to say positive things to your friends and on the survey. Don’t sweat this one, enjoy the truck!

This is basically exactly what I was going to comment. So many people assuming bad intent. It’s minor damage. They will absolutely do a “we owe-you owe”. This doesn’t seem shady at all. Dealership probably just realizes that this guy has been waiting for five months for his truck and is offering him the opportunity to take ownership and have it fixed later if that is what he prefers. Otherwise, I am sure they will fix it immediately if that’s what he wants.

We are all friends here but you chose to insult me like this?

I work at a dealer, I've worked at a few dealers. I'm industry. They fuck people with stuff like this every day.

Good luck with your legal standing advice in life. I'm sure you get by fine, but not everyone does.

    Learn some tact.

Use that damage as a negotiation tool to lower the price of the vehicle. That's pending the damage is minor and you can live with it. I love finding a ding or a scratch on a brand new car. They would rather knock money off the price than fix it.

After all this, it’s going to be hilariously ironic when he crumples the rocker panel into a Boulder off road, or his wife side swipes a pillar in the underground garage, or a teenager on their cell phone rear ends him at a red light a month after he takes possession of the truck!

Like i said, Some dealers are scum. Most are not. They advised him of the damage. Why would they tell someone their truck is damaged then try to screw them? Maybe your dealer is one of the few, not sure I could work at one of those places, but so be it. Maybe you could do the right thing if you see it happening to say something? Going into any dealer with the big dick syndrome never works.
