I knew there were different laws for trucks in some states regarding the tinting of the rear windows.

    North Carolina Tint Law Exemptions

Tinted windows that had tinting applied after the car was manufactured (aftermarket) are examined at DMV vehicle registration inspection.

Though usually window tinting can’t have less than a 32% light transmission when measured with a photometer during an inspection, North Carolina allows some exceptions to the window tint rule and safety laws. These vehicles may have darker auto tinting under tint laws:

    • Limos.
    • Tour vehicles.
    • For-hire passenger vehicles.
    • Ambulances.
    • Rear-windows of a vehicle that hauls property.
    • Law-enforcement vehicles.
    • Minivan and pickup trucks (the rear window

Yeah don't do 5%, I'm always rolling them down usually half way on the way home from work at night even when its freakin cold! It keeps the heat out but you will have a hard time driving at night for sure.

I've got 25 (I think) on my fronts and its perfect imo. Its illegal in my state to go under 35 but 35 wasn't quite enough to me. So far I haven't been hassled for it.

Seems like the front is still lighter than the back, or is that just the photo?

    same shit as everyone else
I've got 26% up front and 5% in the access cab windows and back windows. I love it! You got to watch out though when they put the tint on. I had them put 13% in the back windows as they were already factory tinted. Last time i had my safety check they were at 4.7% because of it. Stacking the stock tint with 5% will make you BLIND!!!

I have 35 on the back two windows and 28% on the front. They are not a perfect match but I am ok with it. I'd rather be a little off then get stopped by police..

IN MY OPINION tacoma's look way better blacked out with 5%

i know it might be hard to see out or illegal but if you look at ANY car commercial of any brand or model the cars always tinted out and most times the windshield is 5% too. because it looks way better.

I personally am going for the "murdered out" look, I got two layers of 2% on the rears and 4% front doors, 20% entire windshield. I have that on the entire windshield and can see out at night. for me it helps because tons of people have illegal HID kits pointing up in my eyes and before the tint I would be blinded, not now.

I just had the shop match the front windows to the stock tint on the rear windows to just match. I am not sure what % it is, but it looks good. I am in pennsylvania where any tint on the front door windows is illegal. But, unless you run into a police officer that is nitpicky, they will not bother you unless you are doing something wrong.

I have 5% all the way around now, and my jeep had 3%. I can see fine during the day and roll my windows down at night if I'm backing up. Its not a big deal.

I like the fact you can't see what is inside the vehicle just by walking by and looking in. I'm not so paranoid about my truck being broke into now.

Ya seeing cars isn't too bad. It's more about parking and backing up, especially where I live (tallahassee) which is cramped as hell. I was leaving chipotle last night and almost killed some idiot walking behind the truck as I backed out

Thats because there is light coming through the windshield making the front look lighter. thats why when you get the front tinted, if you want it to match the back perfect, you go slightly darker.

finally someone who is like me! haha i love the blacked out look. i have 5% on every window except the windshield. but i do have a 10 inch strip of 5% on the top of it. i love it AND can still see just fine at night. i have a backup camera so i dont worry about backing up either. BUT when in doubt, roll down your windows...

I have 35% up front and I think it's perfect, but to each his own. Not too dark and the visibility is great. Now in the back I have 5%, which I wouldn't do if I were you. It's way to dark to see at night and is just a pain, but nobody can see anything inside back there. 35 all around is a good idea, or if you'd like it just a hair darker in the back I'd go with 20%.
