I have been searching for an answer, but haven't really found anything. My 5-speed is clunky(like a dump truck as some have said).
I expect this out of a truck like this, however I would like to make it a little smoother. After driving this and my old one(they both acted the same) I know there isn't anything wrong. It also makes it hard to drive my friend's celica because of how liquid smooth his is. I don't expect mine to be like that, but want it smoother. Can anyone recommend a gear oil or some type of fluid(I think some manuals use ATF) that will help make it smoother?

Truck is a 2015 if that makes any difference.

    Thanks!

MT90 helps a little bit, but keep in mind, it is a truck. It's going to shift like one.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Change the oil, drive it carefully and it should last a long time..... I would hope.

Whatever you decide to do, *DO NOT* use mobile1 gear oil. Stuff is just way too thick.

Typically, a lighter oil (or at least one that meets the spec it claims) will let the synchros work easier.

I.e., this stuff would *probably* be buttery smooth: http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...omesh-transmission-fluid-5w-30/?code=MTFQT-EA
**HOWEVER, that oil is *much* lighter than what is called for in Tacoma transmission. Maybe a mix between that and http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...and-transaxle-gear-lube-75w-90/?code=MTGQT-EA to make something in between (but mostly 90). If you can get to something around xW75-ish, it would probably be still heavy enough to look after the gears properly, but give you a bit of improvement to the synchros.

I drive it pretty easy unless I get on the freeway, but I know it wont hurt the engine, transmission, or rear end.
I shift around 2500 to 3000 most of the time, sometimes around 3500 if the AC is on.

I don't expect much out of the truck other than getting from A to B, but I would like shifts to be lest notchy.
