2wd low mod is a lifesaver sir, took me about 1.5 hrs to install. Otherwise backing up anything up a small incline is a joke.

Your shifting issue can be improved by applying TSB 0092-20. As far as everything else, it sounds like you didn't do your research about the different trim levels, which is why I bought a Pro.
Personally, I'm not a fan of cruise control. Your manual will explain how to switch between adaptive and normal cruise control.
If you are new to driving Toyotas, you'll get used to it. Each car brand has a different "feel", especially compared to "domestic" brands. Just know that with proper care, your Tacoma WILL last forever. My first Toyota truck (2wd) had 335k when I upgraded to a 4wd 4Runner.

My F150 would turn the lights on if you turned the wipers on in addition to turning them on auto at night.

Maybe it wasn't. I just assumed since the ones that are installed aftermarket function exactly the same as the stock ones which tells me the programming was already in the truck as far as the key fob and security shutdown are concerned.

my TRD sport does not have auto lights. I leave the lights on all the time. once you hit the lock button on the fob they shut off.

Strange about your truck having a flat spot. If not noticed it...its pretty responsive when i give it more petal...its very linear. I really like its engine/drivetrain output. Only real beef is this truck doesn't offer the cadillac ride my 2001 tundra did.

Honestly, its not hard at all. Just need 10mm socket and some kind of plastic prybar. Awesome mod!

You’ve never driven a Chevrolet then, theirs are complete garbage. The screen and camera on my 2003 flip phone was better. My work vehicles are all GM, I’m astounded how bad they are.

My brother owns an older 2005 chevy astro van. Talk about a pos, the electrical system never works right when you drive it. You could be doing 70 mph on the highway at night and the headlights suddenly go out and won't come back till its parked. You need to hammer the fuse and relay block under the hood to get the lights to return.

If the headlight stalk says Auto on it, then you have full Automatic Headlights if you put the stalk on that setting. IMHO, I prefer the semi-auto lights that my non-Tech / non-Prem Taco has, i.e. any Taco without the Automatic Headlight feature. See below:

I’m 52 and been driving Toyota’s for 30 years. The gen 3 is the best for creature comforts. Gen 2 with 4.0 was super easy to change oil in and a lot of them had torque converter problems. It felt like you were going over rumble strips and I could never solve the problem. From a engine standpoint was better than 3.5 in my opinion. Then the gen 1 was bullet proof but not very comfortable to ride in. I had the 3.6 and had to change timing belt every 100,000. The one constant I have seen throughout all gen’s in Tacoma’s is to have that transmission flushed. I’m going do it every 75,000 but I tow a side by side and always in 4th gear. If you drive in high water you really need to pull the front actuator and put dielectric grease in and reseal with RTV silicone. I have replaced them on all three gens even on my 2019. It’s a week link for us that cross creeks and get up to running boards.

Buy a 2021, that way you can start off fresh.

I’ve owned 9 Tacoma’s, the first one was a 97 regular cab 5 speed 2.7, that was a fantastic truck. Since then, each one has been a little cheaper. I like my 2021, but my 2000 with 34’s drove better, it was a Tank !

    Gen 1 was a 3.4 not 3.6

Go buy a GM or FCA product. You'll quickly realize how minuscule these concerns are!

Yeah never have. I had a 2019 and the camera was actually good, but for some reason the 2020+ cameras suck. It might be because of the additional front and side cameras they have, trying to save money
