    Good Morning

Sun is shining and 37 degrees.
I'm really enjoying not working this week.
The time spent with grandson is priceless. I've taught him to call his toes, piggies. For being 1 1/2 years old he does alot of talking.

Go to Travis, Lackland, Dover, or Niagara. They do them ALL THE FUCKING TIME. Morning. Night. But most especially rush hour.

Nothing worse than trying to get home when the rubberneckers freak out that Fred is going to come down and crash on top of them. I'm like "he's still at 1000 feet AGL and's got a long ways to go to land on your Hyundai. The warning strip is still a mile away. NOW DRIVE!!!"

Hey, you remember the old commander's hotline when they'd publish the complaints and responses in the base newspaper? My favorite ever is still the dependent spouse at Scott who complained about C5s in pattern over base housing because it wasn't safe for her kids playing outside. Don't recall the exact wording, but paraphrased it was, "lady, you live in base housing on an Air Force Base, duh." :der: o_O

When I was at Fairchild, my first 4 months were spent working comm center and switchboard (hated it). Weekly, we'd get calls complaining about KC-135s going supersonic over some dude's farm. We had standing orders to transfer him to Public Affairs. One day, one of my troops talked back to the dude and exclaimed "OMG, how are you still alive?!?" The guy was suddenly confused. "Because the only way a 135 is going supersonic is right before crashing into the ground! Where did the impact happen? Oh, it didn't crash? Then it wasn't supersonic - stop calling."

Then he hung up. Like a boss.

I was not surprised to get called into the flight commander's office the next day to talk about that call. I was directed to "provide appropriate counseling" which consisted of "funny - but please don't do that again."

Exactly the same thing with me. I had metal in my eye (at least I thought I still did) so they did a simple "X" ray and said Nawwww. You good and into the circle of death I went. A few minutes in all I could think about was that metal flying out of my eye at a 1000mph....lmao She though I was dying of a chainsaw accident..lol. Strange thing is with more than a decade on ships, I like small places.
    Zim

EDIT: They finally gave me a pill and all was good.

As a new SSgt, I once hung up on a French Major from their SARSAT Mission Control Center. My Major asked me "Did you just hang up on the French MCC?" I replied, "Yes Sir I did, I work for you and I wouldn't let you talk to me like that." The guy called back, the Majors did their zero speak stuff, my Major got off the phone, looked at me and said, "you're right, that guy's an @sshole." Never said another thing about it. :D

I immediately fall asleep and start snoring in those MRI chambers

I remember watching C141 Starlifters and C5 Galaxy's from either George AFB or March AFB land at my old duty station MCAS El Toro . We used to get complaints from the civilians who lived along the fligh paths over noise complaints and the low altitude they flew

NOTHING but nothing compares to living on final approach to McCoy AFB in the early 70s with the SAC wing there and the B-52s every thirty minutes coming and going!! I remember Mom was Furious with Dad that he thought that house was the perfect living area!! LMAO...

you have mad cow? explains so much...
CWD is chronic wasting disease - similar to mad cow. as far as they know its not transmittable to humans but theres a lot of testing going on to really understand it. every hunter check point in the state takes samples from the game that come through. its also become a big thing to not just leave a carcass behind after dressing your kill. they want you to burn it, bury it or bring it to a landfill. leaving it behind means any scavengers could possibly become infected. most folks dont bother though. i've gotten in the habit of calling in or stopping at the check points if i see a carcass while i'm out and about

glad you're enjoying your time together. how far away do they live? cant remember if you've mentioned before
