    my ole bud fixed the yard sweeper. cut the thin tube shaft off and replaced the whole shaft with a solid shaft of round stock. drill/tap bolted on and welded. he actually called me to the shop to see it. he was ticked he didnt do it right a year ago when it broke. 308949FF-122B-4E16-AEA3-0230E3D04A71.jpg

    Out in Monterey where im from on the mtn. to the east is a forest service road that goes about 15 miles. on top it goes by a fire tower that used to be manned during fire season.they talked about restoring it but i think the took it down for safety reasons.ill have to goggle it. it was on Jack Mountain. my place now is 15 minutes from Skyline Drive at Afton Mtn.

    jeebus...thats a lot of stairs.
    i love old towers but i hate heights. i've climbed up a few here and get a little wobbly in the knees. most of ours are only 3 or 4 storeys up on account of being on top of the mountains. creeky old wooden stairs, usually missing a tread on the upper level too just to make it interesting
