    AC is just portable unit, doing a wifi therm wouldn't do any good. plus, even if that was the issue my landlord would never go for it. and the AC only has a max 24 hour delayed start so 3 day weekends aren't compatible with it

    A couple of rear window decals...
    Hmmm, maybe a smart plug to work with Alexa or Nest? Have the AC unit turned on at the unit, but turn off the plug when you leave. Then remotely turn the plug on when you're on the way home.

    If it has a electronic control panel it will go back to default when you shut the power off.
    Like the truck clocks going back to 1:00 when the battery is disconnected.
