Hey Chuck.
Just got home, couldn't get TW to load all weekend. Oh, well.

 

this guy hung out at camp for the last two days. He bedded down for a nap about 100 yards from my campsite and about 10 yards from the road. Once traffic got to bother him too much he would wander down to the river for a snack.
This was yesterday, he was harder to get pics of today.

 

oh, and this was from a couple weeks ago. forgot that these two wandered right by me. camp cleared out by 4pm on Sunday and within an hour these guys came within 50 yards of my camp. i was the only one back there at the time. this was the same camp that I got a lift back in the rain with the FS ranger guy.
love how the little one is peeking out like "mom! is it safe yet?"

 

you just gotta come out someday!
We had a good time hanging out by the campfire Friday night. Just stage 1 restrictions in Idaho where we met up so we got to have a campfire and some s'mores.

Just got lucky.
Not sure what even perked my eyes to the deer. I was reading, enjoying the quiet and not really paying attention to much else. Saw mom first, then spots. Had to hide behind the camper and then trees because mom was on high alert.
Yesterday a dozen cars drove by at/above the speed limit. Didn't pay any attention. Then one truck slowed and stopped. I immediately perked up, wondering why. Walked about 50 yards from camp, saw an antler, and took off. The moose had been snoozing the whole time right next to camp and I didn't even know. A while later a bunch of ATV's drove by and I knew he was probably over all the noise so I grabbed the camera and headed for the river. Almost stepped on him! I went right along the same path he had - I guessed right and walked right up to him on the river. So we hung out for a while.
Got up a little early this morning and set off hoping to track him down again. Went all along the river and nothing. I'm almost back to camp and he's just about to bed down in the same spot he was the day before. So I made my coffee, had a campfire, hung out and just kept an eye on him. I was ready to go and he got up at the same time. Followed him down to the river about 5 minutes later and almost stepped on him again! He stayed a little more hidden today so I didn't get any great pics. Went around wide to watch him and lots of folks could spot him from a bridge. Dude went off trail and got about 10 yards from him. He wasn't happy. Then some idiot with two golden retrievers decides to bring his dogs down to the river without leashes. Moose wasn't happy. Neither was I. I stuck around to see what was going to unfold but moose just stood his ground, didn't charge.

I was rooting for the moose.
I kept my distance. Made sure he knew I was there. Retreated when we got too close to one another and he barely batted an eye at me. He was clearly agitated at the dude and the dogs. Clueless people
