    I just returned from a visit with my son in Jacksonville NC....the epicenter of sweet tea and barbeque. It was 78 degrees Sunday and 75 when I left this morning. Now it's back to reality and cold weather...hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.

    Hope you had a great Christmas too! Yeah NC has several BBQ types starting with the coastal which is more vinegary. Then Piedmont, foothills and finally mountain BBQ sauce which is much sweeter. And what I really like personally but I have a strong sweet tooth :(

    Have sweet potato casserole in the oven, and it is taking longer than I thought. Have cooked on charcoal for years and finally broke down and got a Weber Genesis gas grill this summer with a sear station, love it. Especially in a snowstorm. Think it is about time to clean off the snow and fire her up. With the push of a button...

    Caught me off guard with the "up in them parts" Jim, LOL. My Ex MIL lived in Jacksonville back when I was stationed in the Tidewater, Va. area. Spent a lot of time taking the family "down" the coast to see them LOL. She worked at a bank on Emrald Isle.

    We saw the movie "In the Heart of the Sea" yesterday with our youngest son and his fiancee. One of the best movies I've seen in a while and well worth theater money.

    Barbeque as the word means on the east coast, not barbeque as the word means in Texas. I like the east coast kind much better. Best I ever had was in Orangeburg SC. I used to go there occasionally when I worked for a steel company; they had a plant there.
    Mmmm grits. With syrup at breakfast, with butter & pepper at dinner. At least when it comes to food, I think I may have been born on the wrong side of the Mason-Dixon line...
    :laugh: My wife grew up in MA. She still says "we're going down to the Cape" (Cape Cod) even though we live many hours south of it now.
