That's a horrible idea. What time?
If it wasn't for the dog issue, I'd keep things the way they are. I like being off the ground. The 14" bed rack would be another hindrance to a bed platform. I would need to keep it as the platform would mean moving the recovery gear to the exterior.

I like the ARB idea and was thinking about that. I have a hammock as well, but I have a CPAP machine I need to consider as well as the dog, so it's pretty much a lazy back yard day kind of thing.

The ARB is what I have also. The awning room has a large zippered door on the back side to allow access to doors on an SUV (topper windoors in my case). There are also separate cable pass through openings on the back wall. You could run your CPAP power cord back to your bed very easy if that is where your power supply is located. Overall height is the only thing you will need to work out but would be any enough to fab up some awning brackets and risers to your bed rack.

Good morning everyone. I camp practically all winter but we rarely get snow here just lots of WET besides sleeping in my little trailer I use this 10x10 pop up shelter with tarp sides and if cold I have a small little wood stove in it, but it fits a couple of camp cots perfectly takes up very little space

I have awning mounts now with a batwing awning mounted to it. It's a Chinesium knock off of the ARB that came with the first used bed rack I bought. It uses ground poles, which for a dog on a lead might be an issue. Thinking about upgrading or just going to the ARB 8X8. I could attach to that so then all I'd have to beak down is the awning itself if I were to leave the campsite. I have a battery supply for the CPAP and want to add a solar charger to it, so the cords aren't really an issue. The ARB style is what I was leaning toward for a couple of reasons.

There is a tent made for the 1st Up style shelters that also has me thinking along those lines. We have a 10x10 now, so the $150-ish for the tent attachment is a pretty attractive option. The only drawback is that our 1st Up is so old it's often last up!
