I recently bought a pair of Redwing, 8" Supersole 2.0 boots. They are not lightweight but they are ridiculously comfortable to wear all day. They gave me a 30 day "love em or leave em" warranty so I wore them all day, every day for a full month. I worried I would be disappointed with that $350 price tag but I couldn't be happier with them! I hope to get at least 10 years out of these. They required no break-in time at all.

If you have a deep pocketbook for work boots look into White's boots in Spokane, Wa. They are pricey, but very comfortable once your feet break in and they last for decades.

Thanks for the replies about the work boots. I still haven't fully decided. I found a slightly different pull on style of the Carolinas that has stitched soles, the store is ordering them in for me to try them.
