That is a beautiful gun. I collect MilSurp guns, mostly Mosins, I agree that a wooden stock has a feel to it that I don't get from a plastic stock. I'm also a history buff and enjoy collecting rifles that saw some type of use in WWII.

My youngest son is getting my Grandfather's Winchester 94. But my oldest son is getting my grandfather's Japanese 7.7mm Arisaka and baynet that he brought back from the Pacific.

That is fantastic Mike, the Arisaka is a much prized weapon especially if the Mum is intact. So cool that it was your Grandfathers bring back I'm sure means a lot to your family.

Unfortunately in the early 80's my Grandfather asked me to "sporterize" it like many others were doing back then. So I cut the forearm down, the bolt handle is still 90 degrees and intact though. No idea where the original front end hardware\band is and trying to find a replacement stock that isn't beat up is harder than I thought. All of those of us that did that back then are now looking to restore them back. Hindsight is always 20\20... I would like to restore it back though and be able to attach the bayonet again. My oldest son is a huge history buff and introduced me to history podcasts.

Good luck with your restoration. There are a few websites that sell Ariska spares, I'm sure you have looked but here's a few...www.gunpartscorp.com, www.buymilsurp.com and Gunbroker.I'm no expert on Japanese MilSurp but seems like there are lot of variations between the guns based on the manufacturer, year and model. I like it's cool that you're bringing it back to original shape.

    Welcome!

That's the one! Heard my first podcast 2 weeks ago when I took my son on the 3.5 hour drive to Wi. He played The Dan Carlin's American Peril over the Taco's system about the American Frontier being officially gone in 1890, build up to Spanish American War, USS Maine, Dewy taking out the Spanish fleet in the Phillipines, etc. Had half an hour left of it when we got there and it has been bugging me since that I didn't hear the end of it. Not like I don't know how things turned out LOL, but I really want to hear it to the end. I literally just hung up with my son and he filled me in on how to do the podcast thing, who it was, title, etc.

Welcome, Tango Zulu ! With a name like that, you're ready for military duty !

Morning, All ! After a rotten day of football (my team can't even lose when I want them to), back to the grindstone. Blech.

Corny Joke Of The Day: Why did the Mexican thief like to steal trains ? He had loco motives.

    Have a good one !

Can tell it is a Monday, coffee just doesn't seem to work as well on Mondays for me for some reason.
