I just took a few at the rest area - two lane highway no shoulder so not easy to stop just anywhere
You can see the ground in front of me is scrubbed clean, usually this is a nice grassy area. River is probably 12' vertical down from here and the water would have been at least up to my waist from this spot. River channel right now is about 100 yards wide

Picnic pavilion behind me was under water and the bathrooms up the hill just barely escaped. Both are stone/concrete with steel beams. If they had been wood framed I don't think they would have survived. Bulldozer marks where they came through to clear out the debris

Directly behind my camp. You can see where the flood scrubbed the trees on the far bank
    0917221445.jpg
About 10' up the bank and you can see the high water mark where all the crud is stuck in the trees - about another 4' up. Camp was probably 2' from being underwater itself. Chebby in the background0917221448.jpg

Just waiting for the dumb storm cloud to pass and then I'm tying my last hopper on and throwing him in the river :playball:

Pmed the JD before mowing today. New knife blades and retaining bolts. Greased her up. About twenty minutes of finishing up 5 hour seat time, I come across a ground nest of yellow jackets. Nasty bastards. Luckily only one got me right n the side of my nose. Swelled up hard to breathe. Well I didn't stop @ the club on my way home with a nose like this! Thanks bees you bastards...

Glad you’re okay! Yellow Jackets are the worst. I’ve weedeated a ground nest before while landscaping the entrance to a local country club. I’m sure the residents of this posh community weren’t sure what to do when a middle aged slightly overweight man ran down their street stripping all his clothes off. :goingcrazy:

Just found three of these flying insects in my garage and they make the sound like large bumblebees flying around ..... anyone know what they're are ????

These insects were very aggressive and flying into walls or hitting the ceiling . They definitely were easy to kill with gumout carb cleaner though !!!

It's amazing how fast some of them insects can fly. A couple of weeks ago I had my tractor maxed out at 15mph and had a wasp and a horse fly, keeping pace with me.

Is it a horse fly? They're loud and angry. If they bite me I get a 4" diameter welt that lasts for 2 weeks or more.
