Yes sir…we just measured to the useable top and we will get 3 24’ logs to send to the mill. Smell that ?…It’s the smell of money baby. Hahaha

Awesome ride! I still run stubbed BMX pedals on my Mt Bike, it helps.

Was it rotted at the bottom or was that 3 smaller trunks that merged together?

I was thinking the cedar smell must have been nice! I wonder if that's enough lumber to make a hot tub?

It was a little pithy in the middle but not bad. My guess is that it is solid about 3’ in. Cedars are funny the way they grow…like redwoods. I wondered if it was multiples at first. But as I got into it realized that this was one tree. The rings are tight. It will fetch a good price at the mill. More than enough for a hot tub.

I love working with cedar, that & birch. I'd make a guitar out of it, lol. Good luck with the sale. You need to tighten that chain up a bit on that Stihl :)

Thanks…yeah that picture was taken right after getting it on the ground. Took about 30 minutes to make the cuts…most of it at strange angles. That’s fairly normal slack after that kind of workout. It’s all tight now and a fresh edge put on it with a round file. Just in time to drop this one.

Good evening Susan. It was a very nice tree. Almost sad to see it go. I’m sure it was there for a very long time. Hope you are doing well.

Doing well... why'd you have to drop that tree?? Wondering how much $$ it's gonna cost me to drop 2 trees... one is 15 years old and about 30 - 40' tall and the other was there when my house was build 20 years ago and was 30 or 40' tall then and has grown since and is three trunks.... since you had to show a tree being dropped. I'm not going to try either one... house is too close, fence in the way along with other trees I don't want damaged.... the three trunk tree is between 2 others and they are in each others way and the other tree is just too big for where it is :anonymous: I will plant a smaller, decorative tree in it's place. There were a couple of reasons. We had a big wind storm a couple of weeks ago and it damaged the root base. They are building a new house close by and they did not want to risk having troubles later. I’m not sure the going rate for tree work there. Looking at them…there is a lot of rope work involved. That gets pricy. The neighbors just got a $4000 quote for 3 trees. One close to the house. I told them to keep looking. There are good people here who are bonded and insured that will do it for less than half. I imagine it would be the same for you. You can also see if anyone from a local tree removal company (Davey Tree or Asplundh) is interested on some side jobs.

That's bad... I had a double trunk tree taken down at the front corner of the house shortly after I moved in... one of the trunks was dead and split and the builder said they drove by and it looked fine... I should have had the tree guy leave me a chunk of the trunk so I could drop it on my builders desk. He was (is) a jack ass. Yeah, a lot of rope work. I'd attempt it, but I'm not a monkey and don't climb trees. Didn't even do it as a kid and not going to start now... I need to get on with it before a storm comes through and the tree company's are busy with storm clean up

My wife still gets mad at me when she knows I’m going up a tree. I really shouldn’t be doing it anymore…it’s a young man’s game and a lot can go wrong very quickly. I’ve seen too many situations where builders left trees too close to the house. I love trees but not hanging over my house. I just did a search for Davey Tree and Asplundh and it looks like they are only in North Carolina. Yelp has some companies with great reviews though. Feel free to ask any question if you are considering a quote.

Asplundh is still here in Florida. I worked for them for a few years. You know when they're coming with their orange trucks.
Good company, I got paid well. Florida power & light (FPL) sub-contracts them to clear trees after a hurricane.
I planted a Christmas tree that me & my dad dug up in the woods in upstate New York. The friggin' tree is huge now, overhanging the house.
It looks sturdy, though. Anyhoo, it's their problem now.

Good Morning Ladies & Gents! 44°F here in South Florida. Enjoy your Monday! :)
