Good morning to all. Hope everyone had a pleasant Memorial Day weekend and gave a though to those who made it possible. God bless them, each and every one.

So.... I need to borrow one of Weesa's desk flipping emoji things. After wading through a ton of emails from the weekend, I found out that our Facilities team had planned a total site wide electrical power downtime yesterday to do some maintenance work. Ok, it's a holiday, no one will be working........ makes sense. Problem was, it's one of our most critical manufacturing sites, has tons of servers there and applications that are used by every other manufacturing site around the world. And the Facilities team didn't tell anyone in IT about the planned outage. So apparently every network device and server alerted yesterday, causing mass confusion among all our various support teams, and we had people working into the night getting things back online after they restored power yesterday afternoon. So I sent a polite email to the Facilities team asking them to please follow the established process for notifying IT of planned power outages the next time they do this shit, so we can coordinate with vendors, support teams, business units.....

Sometimes I hate having holidays. People think that's a good time to do shit like this :annoyed::argue::bananadead::facepalm::nuclear::smack::frusty:

Been there, lived it.. Hate facilities, no one matters but them... If we were to do that.... Heads would roll, how dare us to try and update things!!!

Every other company I have worked for, Facilities is either part of IT, or at least directly tied to IT. Not at my current employer. Completely separate world unto themselves.

    Good Morning Folks :hattip:

I'm enjoying my coffee while looking out over Lake Superior. I'm the only one up. Peaceful and relaxing.

So do you think that they will follow your advice next time.
By us IT people think that they're gods, almost as bad as the security people.
