With that in mind something else needs to be addressed when I go to the northeast I feel like I need to have some chowder. But I have asked before and gotten recommendations and ended up disappointed. @vssman any thoughts? I come from a part of the country that is not known for its heart healthy cuisine but we have some folks that can absolutely change your life on a plate. I’m starting to find my way around Staunton VA with some tidbits I’ve picked up from @dewayne yall mention things and they stick I have that kind of screwed up mind!

And let me add this! Sometimes in the south you pull up outside the bbq place or a fish camp and go through your mind and try to remember when your last tetanus shot was. But the parking lot tells the tell!

Good afternoon everyone. Sorry to hear that Andy doesn't get to enjoy his vacation as much as he would like to and that Weeza isn't catching any fishes.

The Taco wasn't making the noise during the commute to and from work, maybe it's fixed. I wanted to go outside and start tearing apart the front end of the GMC but it looks like ( and smells like) rain. I will eat some more dinner and decide what to do.

    Dinner: local Italian sub shop.

You have to be along the shoreline. Where will you be? Any chance in RI?

edit: if you are in southern RI (or anywhere for that matter, it’s a small state), then TwoTen Oyster Bar is the place for good New England Clam Chowder. Fish & Chips or fried oysters are good there too.

Want a lobster roll? Abbotts in Noank, CT is good so I’ve heard.

If you ever cruise through the Baltimore area, crab cakes are always a nice treat. They're not cheap anymore, but still a nice treat. When we grew up, we would eat them on a Saltine cracker with mustard on top!

Pelham NH this go round is the last stop. I’m studying the trout routes app. Because I go close to there enough to justify another nonresident license if there’s some top notch streams close.

She can see a pinhole of light when the door is closed, so now she wants me to replace the weather stripping. She thinks rats and mold are coming in.

I can fully relate. A few years ago a gal that worked at the Maker space where I worked PT listened to me tell the same story. She told me that she was a FT HR person at a large local Aerospace company. She informed me, in the most polite of ways, that my grey hair is a #1 "flag" that they see when interviewing someone that isn't fresh out of college. They equate it with getting old/ more likely to use health care benefits and short/long term disability or even the death benefits (for surviving family members.). Seriously, this is what I was told 'off the record'.

Nah, they're mainly a tourist establishment. Too much bread filler in their mix. Any decent brew pub will have a great crab cake or find a marina with a bar/club house.

I’ve gone through there a few times but recently I’ve been swinging wide and avoiding that area if possible. I’m normally headed well north of there and have found not much good about traveling 95 through that area.

Our last full day in Northern Minnesota and so far the weather has been great.
Today we went to a place that makes maple syrup. We had to drive about 5 miles down a narrow gravel road back into the National Forest. Nobody was there and it was self pay. We got a jug of regular maple syrup, a bottle that was in a bourbon barrel and a bottle the was in a bourbon and wine barrel.

This what the place looked like.

I was expecting to hear dueling banjo's.

If you are traveling through on I-95, in Harford County there is a place called Box Hill Pizzeria. Great crab cakes! Easy to get to off of the interstate.

    https://www.boxhillpizzeria.com/
There's another area called White Marsh that about 15 miles south of that, A good brew pub Called Red Brick Station. Pretty good crab cakes and wings among other things.

It used to be my 'go-to' place before I moved too far away.

There are some ( at least, used to be ) awesome old school Bawl'mer bars around the city with great food and atmosphere, unfortunately that place has become such an out-of-control, unsafe shit hole, I couldn't ( in good conscience) tell anyone to venture into there. It's bad.. the news glosses over the crime and corruption.

I eat clam chowder whenever it's on the menu. Best I ever had was Legal Seafood in Boston. I was there TDY to Hanscom AFB in 1997 or 98, maybe 96, darn I'm getting old.
