A little bit cooler this morning only 61° but not cool enough to not enjoy my coffee while looking out at the field behind my house from my back patio

I’m headed to the Sheriff's Office after lunch for the Chief Deputies retirement. He’s one of my old partners and the last of our group of deputies that worked our way up through the ranks. It’s the end of an era, will be interesting to see the direction it takes now.

I crossed South River in 2 places today. as low as ive seen it this time of year and crystal clear. south river is 2 miles East of the house. Middle River is 2 miles west of house. we use to float Middle River for smallmouths. get permission to put in and take out. and float through farm country. this is the only one i ever didnt throw back,including citations. typical 17” 3 1/2 lbs. kept for a bud to practice his taxidermy. threw back alot of bigger ones

It’s so clear and shallow you have to dress up like a bush to keep from spooking the fish The big furry guide you know I met the other year was telling me about how good the smallmouth fishing is in that area!
