That ground hog… I thought I got him with the pellet gun over a week ago but alas, he is out in the yard more skiddish than ever. Just the sound of clacking the pump action pellet gun makes him run for cover.

The water heater is being covered under the recall notice . The plumber will be replacing the gas manifold so it won't see extreme water temps like has been which caused the the reset switch to activate

Also while the plumber is here he is going to test the water heater and make sure it's safe

The nice thing is no cost to me for the repairs

Tell that to Mother Nature! This is freakin crazy.
I just pulled a cake out of the oven. Can't remember the last time I had my oven on in the summer - it makes my apartment too hot and I just don't use it once the weather gets warm.

was just messing around with my 401k's
older account from my previous employer still getting a profit sharing and employer match contribution. its not a ton of money but its something getting added to the balance.
i was going to close it out and transfer it to my current employer's 401k but they dont do any match so i'm thinking i'll just leave it

Are you vested in the match? If so then the funds are only gaining based on the market and you’re limited by their offering. I’d roll it into an IRA that you can control.

edit: I should add that if you are not vested, then you’d only get what you put in yourself plus it’s gains.

    the older account is vested
took a hit last year for sure but the profit sharing at least softened that blow a tiny bit.

Dang it's chilly outside! I feel like I'm back in Seattle, 54° and steady rain. We needs it, it's been a solid month to 5 weeks since we got any but this kills any outside projects for a bit. Maybe I need to try my hand at skim coating the guest bedroom? I need to finish it so that I can set up my office in what has been a temporary guest room.

I’ve never heard of a former employer still providing funding from any source (profit sharing) into a 401k for former employees. If you are still getting funding, that’s damn good. Unless, of course, it’s a mistake and which they could take it back from you. I rolled mine over the years over into an IRA and use a ‘guy’ to manage it. If it’s not a ton of cash, you could roll it to Fidelity or Vanguard or similar and self manage. If it’s substantial, then I’d suggest having it professionally managed.

I'll second the rolling it to an IRA with Charles Schwab, American Century or Vanguard, or anyone of the other financial management firms. If they are still adding money to your account, it's probably an error, and they'll figure it out when you transfer the funds to wherever you set up your IRA account. Just make sure wherever you park the funds, they pledge to be a fiduciary of the funds they manage.

A little of this and a little of that.
    :hattip:Good morning

Back to the salt mine today. I owe, I owe.

Actually I do owe a little something after buying a 2020 TRD Sport AC 4wd manual yesterday. Oh well, Dad always says that he’s never seen a casket with a caboose-can’t take it with you.

    Enjoy your Thursday. Stay safe.
