That’s the thing with our copper heads they will just lay there and not move and blend in especially in leaves.

 

I remember back in the early 90's my old 4x4 club had an outing near Barstow CA in early summer . Most of the trail we were on there was quite a few rattle snakes seen and you had to be very careful where you walked .

I remember a few of our club members climbing out their Jeeps almost being bit by a rattlesnake that was maybe 3' away from them

 

The first time we went out west one of the things that jumped out at me was the signs in rest areas warning to watch for poisonous reptiles and insects with a scorpion and a snake on them.

 

I remember at 29 Palms there were little sidewinders that would pass through our tent city when we were there for CAX. Someone would yell “snake” and we would all pick our feet up. Another time at driver’s training in Pendleton we found a big one on the road we thought was dead. I almost shit myself when it kind of coiled up and took off. Wisconsin Marines aren’t used to watching out for snakes that will really hurt you.

 

Got plenty of firewood here…

 

Rattlers are common here but stay far away from people. Only have seen them on dirt trails or rocky areas
Rock climbing was always a look first hobby.

Some people find them in thier garage.

We have a few buildings, one in particular that has all the plumbing and electrical parts, nobody goes in them regularly and have seen sidewinder tracks and where they've dragged or set their rattles down on the dust on the cement. But I've seen them in all the buildings either hunting or coiled up in a corner. Not many people to go in to use the restrooms during summer so the floors are good and warm. Big trick is to keep the rodents out and the snakes don't spend much time around them.

 

I don't know what you're using but this one looks like 2 whole wheat pop tarts with a piece of fried chicken between them...and Nutella.
