Good morning. Yearly visit to the opthamalogist to check my retina. The downside is I have never been out of there in less than 4 hours.

Thanks had surgery on my left eye in 2019. That was the hard stuff. Now, these yearly checks are to make sure it's not detaching again, altough - if you have been through this - you know when the retina is detaching. He also checks for macular degeneration. Hopefully, I'm too young for that. He 's really good and, thus, his waiting room is packed.

I've never been through that. I've had slag removed when I was a welder helper years ago. In the last 5 years I've had a new thing that freaked me out- ocular migraines with auras. I lose vision in a section of my view with what looks like a kaleidoscope of twinkling stained glass moving around. Sometimes it's followed by a headache but most times not.
It's not always fun getting older...

I get the exact same thing, started around when I was 52-53, if I take 2 Alieve right away, I can usually avoid the headache part.

I do the same. When the sparkles come it’s in with the Aleve. Mine can be triggered by being dehydrated. Or super bright sun with no sunglasses.

I have been with my current employer for about 18 months now. They are a fairly old company, have been in the technology sector for decades. In my role as the Major Incident Team Lead, I have encountered quite a few "WTF is this? How do you run a large company like this?" For example - one of our large corporate data centers is located in Wisconsin. An area known for severe weather in winter time. Last winter, this data center lost street power more than once due to severe weather. And the company has never felt it worth investing in a backup generator. So a large part of the company was hard down for 12+ hours, more than once, because of this.

I am currently on a project planning meeting for a project to replace one of the older UPS units powering our other main corporate data center, this one in Cleveland. There are two UPS's at this data center, and one is, apparently, >30 years old, and fails periodically. I was  when I heard the Project Manager say this UPS is over 30 years old, but then he says "the vendor hasn't stocked parts for this model, UPS for many years, everytime something fails, we literally have to look for new parts on eBay, it's the only place we can get parts for it".:eek::eek::eek::bananadead::bananadead::bananadead::bananadead:

I guess this is my version of a Moron Report. But at the Company level, not just a pointy haired boss or co-worker level.
