My last 10 years have all been doing "Major Incident / Problem / Change Management". I had 18 years of hands on systems administration roles before that. I'd like to get into a managerial role if possible, or at least another Team Lead position. I'd be happy with Major Incident, Disaster Recovery, Service Delivery, or just about anything else in a support type position. Not a product design / development role, I have no experience in that part of Information Technology.

 

Thank you all for the support. Being at this is my 3rd time getting laid off, and 4th time being our of work, I know how to handle the emotions of it all, and what I need to do to get back in the game. But it is very frustrating when it happens again. I at least did get a small severance package, since I had only been there for 18 months. And since the company's fiscal year ended September 30, and I was with them for that entire year, I will get my full annual bonus check in December, so that will help a bit.

What about looking at k12 education? Most districts require a director of technology, and , at least up here, there’s always seems to be a job opening somewhere in the state. In a smaller district, like mine, I get my hands-on one day, and writing a policy the next. Makes for nice variety.

Taking a coffee break before starting another task at the house.

I have a brother that works IT for a school system in upstate New York. He says that no two days are the same and he enjoys the variety. Not sure if it’s an option for you @BarcelonaTom67 or not, but @tlebel has some good points.

An excellent suggestion, I had not considered that. And KY has tons of colleges, at least 2 within 15 miles of us, so will look into that as well. Thank you!!
