Don't worry about it. Ya put insurance on it, so if ya die it's taken care of.
&in today's world? It doesn't do you any good at all to pay a house off. They aren't gonna take it away from you if you are making payments.

The second it's paid off? It's a target for anything that goes wrong financially.

Keep your money working in your favor. Borrow against it anytime you want something. Rates are always cheaper & interest deductible..

i still need to *pay it* no worry about things going sideways financially until i try to retire - kinda all depends on what my obligations are in seven years. And of course what the world looks like then. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, December 1! Clippers are charging at home, and tonight I can clean my face of all this white hair that grew during Movember

MT, I think the builder of your place used the same plans as the one my father bought in Bakersfield. I had to take a double take to make sure you didn't make the mistake of moving to Cali.

oh of course ya gotta be able to make the payments.... like a good responsible person...

but retiring is not that big of a deal if you have a fixed pension amount coming in.
its a lot harder if you are just gonna live off of savings/investments on financing, but if you have money coming in? banks love it.

dont want this to sound wrong to my fellow retiree's........ im a cash guy & pay for everything possible in hand. no credit cards or stuff like that.

but about 15years ago my accountant/investment guy said: SK you are a tightwad, but you arent using your money wisely. he said any time you can get 0% on buying something you want & can afford it? get it.

he called this maximizing your capital. so the new tractor showed up. now the new mower.
the house is still locked in at 3.25%. if 0% money isnt available? then borrow it against the house.

now while i dont believe in "Frivolous spending"? at this age..... if i want it & can afford it? we
    get it.

for you thinking this might be something to let you kids or Gkids have later? If you can afford it & it makes you happy? DO IT.

its way too late in life for us 50plus people to not have the things we want.
enjoy everyday like its your last! because it could be.

I forgot the wife has plans that trumps my plans. And her plans include me staying home and doing the animals. I think I will put my foot down and ask her if I can go fishing one day next week
