I'm a big fan of John Deere Equipment . Especially there 410 backhoe. We have a saying at work - it smells like a John and runs like a Deere!!!

I'm with you in everything except lows around 32. I don't need it to ever get that cold. I'm all in for lows around 45-50 and highs of about 80-85 but most days in the 60s and 70s. And the low humidity, of course. San Diego, anyone ??

Earthquakes are not my favorite because you get no warning. But having lived in Japan for 4 years, I got so used to them, having felt at least 300 small quakes a year and one nasty one that was a 7.8 with the epicenter less than 100 miles away (life flashed before my eyes on that one). I think the bigger worry in San Diego is the wild fires.

Evening all! Spent a few years in San Diego. Weather was nice but the traffic?! Can't imagine 30 years later it is any better. Actually a lady I have been seeing daughter and SIL have lived there for a few years now. With El Nino this summer it hit 90 several times and they have had frost on the windshields several times this winter. Their furnace died couple of weeks ago (sounded like a heat pump) so she asked me to talk the SIL through how to light a fireplace. Didn't take me too long to figure out it was a wood burner, and they didn't have any wood of course. I can't imagine how much a cord of wood goes for in San Diego!

Oahu stays at 72 degrees for a high pretty much all year, have a friend that lives there 6 months of the year. But he purchased his house back in the 70's and it is payed off. Spent 6 months on the rock and that was long enough, was ready to go back to the mainland and have some seasons again. Asheville NC was nice.... Had a neighbor that was retired and from Canada. It would be down in the 20's in the winter and he would walk out in his PJ's to get the paper and just stand there looking around with a smile on his face. Used to wonder if he was going senile. Nope, now I understand he was just happy as chit it wasn't -20 with -50 windchill.

Yeah, the cost of Carolina is on my list of retirement locations too. They get four seasons but the ocean breezes keep the summers from being too miserable and they don't get any lengthy cold spells in the winter.

The wife and I are looking at Tennessee. Our son lived near Parris Island when he was stationed there, too damn hot for me in the summer! It's scary to even talk about retirement with the week the stock market is having!
