Took me 6 months to go through the retired now what phase.
I had planned all my stuff etc but I just didn’t fire off on it.
I wanted the time to say no one is going to tell me what to do. Fuck you all, etc.
Then when I snapped out of it, I hit the floor running.
It’s a process. Everyone does it different. You don’t owe anyone, anything, anymore..

    Go have Fuuuuuuuun.

The first time I didn't quite wait 6 months, but I knew I had to get another job. But I was on the computer for almost 3 months filling out applications. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and dove in the garage and started projects and only checking email twice a day until it all came together. I was off work for about 9 months.

almost... last winter when we had that couple of days of -50 my antifreeze for the camper (still had a partial jug sitting in the garage) had turned into more of a sushie consistency. i was still fluid so it was doing what it was supposed to but it was weird to see that it had actually gotten that cold

yeah but you went out on a slightly accelerated plan if I remember right?

i think i'll be fine when i retire. already got plenty of hobbies and just need more time - and space - for them!

I retired in the middle of 2018. I planned to go into the city more, to visit relatives and friends and see some sites I hadn't seen, or at least in awhile. Did that for the first 6 months then my retina detached in January of 2019. The rest of the year was dealing with procedures and surgeries and adjusting to my new vision. Then COVID hit and that kept everybody in. I still make day trips but some of the enthusiasm is gone. My wife will retire in about a year or so. Maybe that will be an impetus to getting back out on those day trips away from home. Still, I'm raising my grandson and walking everyday with my dog, so my days have some things above the mundane. Right now my grandson is wrestling so there's picking him up after practice and attending matches and tournaments - some which can go all day. For those who haven't retired, you do have to embrace the mundane, kind of like a staycation. Unless you are really motivated and/or very wealthy, you can't have everyday full of new and exciting. And, oh, an afternoon nap is always a nice treat, one you couldn't do at your job.:p

Good morning all, hope everyone has a good Friday and a nice weekend. Especially those who are supposed to get slammed by the polar vortex / bomb cyclone this weekend. Stay safe and warm!

At those temps you posted I'd be worried about the engines cyl block cracking in either truck . Do both trucks have adequate coolant and properly filled

All it takes is a improperly filled cooling system in 15° or colder ambient air temp overnight to Crack a cylinder block or distort the cyl walls

So now that I am done, I can let you know that I worked for Xerox. Working on the large production printers that you have never seen
    20230512_115657.jpg

While not the most exciting work, it was a challenge because of the electro-mechanical and server challenges. This machine had over 10 million impressions. I still enjoyed the work but the travel and corporate crap wore on me.

I never thought I would be there 36 years, it was a great place to be part of, and despite the corporate mentality, I was taken care of by the local management.

I did have a customer do that. Except I had to fix the damn machine.

When people would copy thier face, I would remind them that someone probably copied thier butt, right before they copied thier face.

I have a few moron reports
