What I have done with woodchucks is live trap them, then shoot them in the cage, neighbors are pretty close. Might be able to do the same with a coyotes, never delt with them bastards

    Morning all

Living in the city, we can't shoot off Guns, especially around houses. Coyotes will adjust the size of the litters depending on food source and population decline. So if you kill off 20, they will increase pups born by 20. Between the bobcats, coyotes, mountain lions and bears. We keep the pets inside.

Yikes. We have the very occasional coyote here. Same with foxes. I've seen a fox in my yard but never a coyote. My biggest fear here for my dog is a rabid raccoon. Luckily, we have a raised deck.

we actually love skunks & ground hogs on our place. actually my wife likes all wild critters except Yotes'....

skunks are super handy. we have fruit trees which equal yellow jacket nests. skunks are teh absolute top predator for yellow jackets. they dig em up & eat the entire nest like a bear in a honey comb.

ground hogs are just cute & fluffy.... obviously we dont own horses or we wouldnt feel this way.

and if yotes' wanna multiply faster? im all for killing them faster. no rules against how you kill them here. well thats not true: you cant use treble hooks with bait.

Didn't know that about skunks. I don't like skunks but yellow jackets are my enemies, having set me down twice over the years. the last time required a trip in an ambulance to the e.r., so skunks do your thing - just not too close to my house. :D

I love wildlife on my place too. got more squirrels than i can count. skunks dig grubs out of the yard at nites, great. groundhogs in the hayfield is fine. but be damn if im gonna till, plant, weed, and water a garden just so groundhogs can eat it all. and you can live trap and let them go if you dont want to kill them. but was just saying if you get a skunk in a live trap, good luck not getting sprayed. but there is a way thats humane

We came up on the skunk thing about 25 years ago at a place I lived. Had huge yellow jacket issues & with a critically ill daughter.. no pesticides allowed.

An old Laborer at work told me he'd come over & take care of it for me for a case of beer. I said deal.

He brought his skunk over & turned her loose. Was one of the most awesome things I've ever watched to this day. That lil gal found that nest real quick & tore into digging ... I had no clue that skunks could dig like that. They can.

Turns out that unless they get stung in the eye they are dang near impervious to YJ's!! Fur too thick & tongue too tough! She ripped a hole in the ground & tore into eating that nest & it was like she was at a buffet! She literally ate every bit of the nest & who knows how many YJ's.

All the while the old guy Sat in a lawn chair next to me giving me a play by play of what she was doing.

He got his case of beer, she got her workout & food, we got rid of a problem.

I had this guy over several more times & he would never take a dime, just beer. We moved to 3 different houses & Everytime we ran into a nest we would call him.

He died about 15years ago, but since we moved to this hobby farm we just make sure no one kills the skunks we have around on purpose. We got 2 family's of them on our place that we know of.

We might get the occasional YJ flier.... But any nests they start get found & ate real quick.

Things ya learn in life when you are willing to just take it all in. :)
