I've settled on using one of old gas grills that's all rotten but has cast iron grates and use it with charcoal and wood. That's what I did today.
I want a flat top outdoor griddle. But i want to stay with a reputable company so I can get parts.

As far as making a brick and cement grill, it's important to use Fire Brick on the inside of the cooking area. You can notch-out the brick longways through out the courses to a accept a grill, and have different levels. There's also special mortar for the Fire brick joints. Nothing like grilling on coal! :)

    Crap.

Does it go through a grommet or just to metal?

I'm actually going to build a steel firebox about 2" smaller on all sides so I have about 2" airgap all the way around that's just as tall as the brick surround. So it's basically going to be a steel wood stove with an open top. In the airgap I'm going to insulate the fire box from the outer brick with firebrick. The outer brick is mostly for decoration. This way all the heat goes up and I can open vent flues to the warming oven, smoke box and possibly to a pizza oven...not easy to visualize but I have a pretty good design in my head. Just need to draw it up...

Sometimes we do burgers for a bunch of people and I'll get those frozen costco bags of preformed burgers. I've done them on my griddle and they come out pretty decent as long as I get the lower fat burgers but a flattop with sides and the grease trough would be better.

No grommet that I can see. But not sure why the stepped threads...

Again if it's a pain, don't bother. I'm more than willing to take it to my dealer, and let them do the work to find it.

I think a reg bolt would work but I'm not sure. Made diff than mine.
If remember I'll see what I can do. Parts diagrams suck. So if this actually bolts a bracket for the cooler I'll try to point it out.

Yes. The transmission cooler assembly has two "tabs" on it where the assembly bolts down to the cross member. I'll try a regular bolt. I have a nice "collection".

You are correct good sir, once again. Every year at least one person dies in town or nearby town from slipping on the ice and hitting their head. Couple of years ago it was a young athletic surgeon. Ice doesn't care about your age or athletic abilities or even if you have 4x4 with limited slip for the most part.

When I moved here from Asheville, NC Dr. Atkins of the Atkins diet fame had slipped on the ice in NYC and hit his head and died. A lady I worked with who had never been "up North" swore that was going to be my fate too and begged me not to leave. No need to prove her right, thanks for the reminder.

Went to Home Depot to get some things for grilling LOL. And more salt and tubes of sand. Then went to the grocery store to look for some fudge and Christmas cookies after someone mentioned it here. They had all the Christmas stuff in the bakery marked 50% off. I am so weak... :anonymous:

I love my cast iron skillets and cook with them all the time. I used to sear meat in the winter with them. But I am so hooked on Fire, I flame sear everything now.

Michael Pollan has a Netflix documentary of 4 shows on the history of cooking. The one on Fire really talked to me LOL. Think many on here would enjoy it also.

I love fire and grilling over wood but I've come to love a good seared steak in a skillet and finish in oven in its own juices.
