just texted that to my niece and nephews. Told them to make their dad be the commander he thinks he is. They have too much money. First response back was PERFECT!

Went out to the boat for a quiet morning to rig the sails and sit and think. Back home for lunch.

 

Nothing beats being on a sailboat. We used to have a Capri 16.5. So much fun on small boats!
You said you sailed out of New Haven. My dad was born there and went to Wilbur Cross HS (I think it was HS but it could be elementary).

 

New Haven - arguably the pizza capital of the US. Thin crust, coal fired ovens.

 

I should probably visit then. Thin crust pizza is better for my type 2 diabetes. I can actually have more than one piece!

 

No, that’s all south Florida, Ft. Lauderdale/ Miami area. I’m way up in the western panhandle area of Pensacola.

 

I know extremely little about sailing.... is your boat big enough to go out on the oceans or is it more for smaller bays or lakes or...? Overnights or more for day sails?

I’m a day sailor. The boat is 17’ and sold as a weekender. I take it out onto Long Island Sound. Previous owners used to go out for a few days and go over to Long Island. I’m not that courageous. I wouldn’t mind getting something in the 25’ - 27’ length so that I could sail around the New England Coast.

 

I'm strictly a land lover.
