so far more of a sleet in town. Ground is warm enough that’s it’s melting. But I’m betting the mountains are getting slammed today.

At 5:15 this morning, we had 76*, it's currently 89* with 69% humidity. Not a fan. The sooner we get back to 75*, the happier I will be. (Not likely until at least middle of next week)

I am, we worry about your situation, it could happen to any of us.
I hated having my loans sold to other institutions, always ended bad for me.
I started getting loans only through credit unions, them seem to not sell the loans.

Thank you, I am very touched by all the concern and universal support I have received here. I try not to "over share" to the point of sounding like I'm just an attention whore, but I do realize many of you really are interested and concerned. And yes, these days, stuff like this can happen to anyone. Job loss, catastrophic illness, unexpected death of one spouse with no life insurance......

This is my 4th bout of unemployment since 2010. I'm "used to it" by this time, though that doesn't make it any less stressful. The part that makes me the most angry is that at 57 years old, I've been busting my butt for so long, and just can't seem to get where I want to be. In 2013 I tried to change careers, as I was really burned out in the IT field. I decided to follow a long standing dream and go to Law School, wanting ultimately to become a Prosecutor. My wife at the time was from NYC, so I applied to schools in CA and NY/NJ. I got accepted to 2 schools in New York, so we packed up and moved from northern CA to Long Island. Everything went great for the first year. I used all my own money to get through that first year (tuition $$$$$ and also a rule that full time students are forbidden to work while in school, so I quit my job right before school started). When i applied for student loans for 2nd year, I found out that I was ineligible for student loans (Federal and Private) due to a prior bankruptcy I filed, during a previous period of extended unemployment. That also causes serious problems in my marriage, and a year later, I ended up leaving and moving back to CA on my own. Now, when I found the last job I had, I finally made it into a Manager's position, and got a very nice pay increase from the job I was in. So my wife, her parents, brother and I, packed up and moved to Kentucky. We found what to me was/is a perfect piece of property, and a very nice house. Took me 55 years, but I felt like I had finally realized the dream of having a nice big hunk of land, out in the middle of nowhere, quiet, peaceful...... and then less than a year after we bought this place... Blam! I get laid off. Ugh.....

Rough situation. Glad my problems happened a few years younger. Nobody will admit it, but you're bumping into the age thing...a lot of hiring managers don't want to hire someone who's that close to retirement. There's also the thinking that they can hire someone younger for less.

I lost a job of 21 years, 3 weeks after opening my then wife's business. While we were struggling to get her business going, our mortgage (which our CU had sold) got sold when the mortgage company went belly-up. I got my CDL and took a trucking job to bring in more money. In the end, we lost the house, I got divorced...started over at 52. It worked out in the end and I'm sure it will for you. That stress is real, though. Chin up!

My son and his family just did a vacation down in Mexico with his in-laws. Yellow tail fishing and he hooked a sea lion

The line broke and the sea lion became the proud owner of a new hook and chunk of bait. My son and father-in-law both got a yellow tail each and my granddaughter caught some kind of rockfish.

Random mind check: @vssman you good today? Look on the bright side, you have a boat. I have some great memories of sailing the 26' racing slough "Scotch Mist" with my dad!

Usually Bass go after my Flipping worm rig and Crappie like the Ultralight perch lure.
This guy wanted that flipping worm bad. Went back in 3 times and grabbed it every single time.
