Yep. On ships we kept workspaces at 70°, well depending on the workspace computer systems spaces were cooler. Berthing compartments were kept at 60°. In both humidity was maintained at 40-45%. I'm at 51% in the house right now and don't want it much higher than that.

In the engine and fire (boiler) rooms we were lucky to be below 100° dry bulb. And 100% humidity.

I remember on both WesPacs, our berthing area was never that cool. We swore that the squids were shutting off the airflow somewhere but we could never figure out where.

I'm inside for another cool off break. I'm at the heat exhaustion level for sure. Cramps/nausea, a bit of a head ache, disorientated.. it's time to call it a day. I've drank plenty of water and electrolyte mix all day.

Maybe... Given you are in here that means old ships that were not designed for all the electronics that came later. And those electronics need to be kept cool, only so much chill water in the cooling loop. And we could only produce a fixed amount of electricity with the ships service turbogenerators that we had when they were built.

Not saying you might be old, hell I'm a plank owner of Noah's Ark :anonymous: and retired in 96. We didn't have Closed Circuit TV on my first ship a tin can. We had movies on the fantail some nights. If you weren't on watch. My last ship was in Desert Storm a bird farm and we had an experimental satellite TV. Everytime the search radar would rotate past the TV dish we would get red lines for a couple of seconds on the screen, audio codecs would still work though. But it was amazing technology red lines or not!

Those are cool, but they look very fragile. I bet 1 cat could take out the whole collection in a heartbeat.
