I need a summer place somewhere cool or an all year place somewhere in the middle. Somewhere with a trout stream.

Woke up to more rain. The lawn loves it. I’m way behind on outdoor projects because of it though.

Good morning :pccoffee: Dogs let me sleep until 6:30 this morning. Of course we had non stop lightning, thunder and rain from midnight until 5:00 normally they want fed and let out at 5:00. For 5 hours last night they had me in a human sandwich on either side of me in bed seeing who could push the hardest against me. I feel a nappy is in my future today. The AC already feels really nice....

Puget Sound region of Wa. State was the best all year that I have ever been. Steelheads run 12 months out of the year if you know the streams. And of course there are trout. You can fly fish for trout in the winter in Mn. limestone driftless region where I live. And when it warms up to above zero they actually take a fly as long as you don't move it too fast. And don't mind chipping ice out of the guides. Have to be careful of the edge ice. OK maybe Mn. and Wi. may not be the best choices for year round.

When I lived in Asheville, NC a lot of people with Florida plates in the winter around mainly Brevard County (Fl.) And a lot of SC plates in the summer, just saying...

X2. Ya sure you betcha! The weeds seem to like the rain as much or more than the grass. Need to get out and keep fighting mother nature on the edge of the woods to keep her from moving into the yard. Wait a minute, if I don't that is less grass to cut hmmm...

The wife’s best friend from high school lives in blowing rock and she recently spent the weekend up there. I think there is the possibility of a mountain cabin in our future :fingerscrossed: Although I would rather go a little west more streams over in the Asheville area. Although Wilson creek is right down the hill from blowing rock. I’ve been looking at houses all over the mountains not just the ones close. Some places I pitch I get the are there bears. I have to well yes but not grizzly’s or just a yes.

Yes bears in WNC but black bears are mainly harmless. Head up the Saluda grade it is hard to go wrong once you do!

I lived in Arden just South of Asheville. Started out at the Navy recruiting station in Hendersonville before they closed it and moved to NRS Asheville. I was in charge so picked Transylvania County and points West and North for my coverage territory. Because trout and grouse.

Yeah I would not live in Asheville today. Friend of mine that grew up there and moved back after he retired from the Navy called me last Christmas. He is going to move West someone tried to steal his truck out of his driveway last year. Surprised the guy is still alive knowing Calvin. Asheville is where people in the South used to go to escape the summer heat in the South. Then it turned into the hippie capital of the East Coast in the 60's and 70's, but I can live with hippies. He said it is now a total shit show though and way too many people that don't have the same upbringing that we had.

I paid $60K for my house in Arden back in 93. Just looked and it is now estimated at $340,600 down $5.1K in last 30 days. Too many people moving there, damn Yankee halfbacks. Well and from everywhere else.

Pretty much what I’m seeing anywhere you would want to move to or have a vacation home you are going to have to pay a premium.
