    Good morning.

Thank you for the card that came in yesterday’s mail. It gave me a chuckle.

How are you? Well, I hope.
I'm in Deadhorse, AK with my best friend from 14 year olds together 'til I left home to join the Air Force ... we haven't seen each other in 35 years. Almost surreal, but I feel great! Happiest I've been in years. :) Just wanted to share that with you. Paul & I on the Dalton Highway yesterday:IMG_8339.jpg

Good morning everybody, it’s Friday :yay:

Sorry to hear about the boat damage Paul @vssman. It doesn’t sound too terrible, give it a few days then give it another look. Sounds like it could be an easy wintertime project to help keep you busy.

I like that extension table Jim. Did you make that or is it part of the table saw?

Have fun Rob! Are you going to do the beach excursion while you’re in Deadhorse?

Tested positive for COVID yesterday. Need to get to the pharmacy and pick up a prescription they are afraid of pneumonia setting in with radiation treatment in the lungs combined with the Covid and immune system being compromised. First time getting it go figure it has to be now. I really don't feel like going anywhere but guess I better soon. Probably should get some groceries and eat something as well. But I don't feel like it.

In the early 80's I fished the rivers that fed into Hood Canal in Wa. State. Common to run into bears carried a Marlin Big Bore 375 with 300 gr. in the chamber and 225 in the tube for backup. Common to come around a bend and have a bear 20 yards away staring at me their eyesight sucks and they don't see well. Came close to pulling the trigger more than once but never had to.

BWCA had to implement bear proof storage requirements for campers this year. They are attracted to where humans frequent especially campgrounds. In the wilderness or not. Bear numbers across the Country have increased a lot over the last few years with more encounters. Some have been ugly even with black bears. I've noticed a change in them lately they just don't seem as afraid of people as they used to be.

I know that even I made the comment that there is nothing like well duct taped Filson to tell the Orvis crowd no need to apply for membership. But I have an Orvis 7/8 Battenkill reel bought in the early 80's it is still serviceable. Made in England by Young at the time.

Caught a 44 pound King on it in a stream he dragged me back to Hood Canal and played submarine on me was looking at nothing but metal on the spool more than once. But landed him. Went to beach him and the 10 pound tippet broke when he cleared and I threw myself on him. Bastage fined me I was covered with blood and mud from head to toe. Was going to mount him but it was $5 an inch and would have cost me half a months pay back then. So I baked him instead.

Now a $150 rod will match most of the Loomis, Winston, St. Croix, Sage, etc. of only a few years ago. Small trout a reel just holds line. But for bigger fish it is a lot more than that as you know.

Never owned an Orvis rod. I may or may not own some Orvis flannel and shooting shirts. And they nailed it with the softshell hunting vest

I might even wash it this year. Nah it can wait another year, man law. I wait for 40%-60% off sales to make any purchases from them.

Just wish those city boys would take the tags off their Orvis gear and clothing before they step on the water or field hunting, they make the rest of us look bad LOL.

After 2 California brown bear home invasions during one 10 day vacation, I’m less confident about Wisconsin Black Bears lurking in the yard.IMG_4881.jpgOutside the bedroom window at our cabin.

    Good morning everyone.
Woke up and HAD to have biscuits and gravy. Now that's happened. The day can go forward.
Overcast and drizzling rain. Big rain all around us .
Cookie, 5-1/2 months old today, just had her first taste of sausage gravy. She's going crazy wanting MORE!

Marty ... I like that tire size difference , looks like a dirt track car tire stagger . Small diameter tire on the left front and taller dia tire on the right rear
