Best pillow I ever bought: sobakowa, a bag filled with buckwheat husks. Cool, infinitely adjustable.

We used to laugh at my dad growing up, he always traveled with his little feather pillow. Now I/wife haul 4 sobakowas around with us wherever we go.

Well, I should should qualify that is for my Mom's side of the family. Until today all of my Aunts and Uncles and a couple great Aunts were still going. Mom's side of the family has always been much closer bond than dad's was, but Dad's side of the family has unfortunately been gone for years. Dad's siblings and their spouses were several years older than he was and they all passed when they were fairly young 60-70 YO.

Sorry for your loss Mike and a prayer sent up for uncle Joe and aunt Martha. This hits home my dad’s oldest full brother was named Joe and his wife was Martha. They are both gone now but I still remember aunt Martha’s chocolate cakes those old time 12 layer cakes. The world is a better place with a uncle Joe and aunt Martha everybody should be so lucky.

Hello everyone, welcome to OCTOBER... jimmny crickets, this year has flown by entirely too quick. I feel like I didn't make the best use of the time that I had to get things accomplished.

My condolences, Mike. I couldn't "like" this news

I had no idea that Chris Christopherson passed until I read it in here.

It's cooling off, the house is staying around 65° right now. I'm not ready to flip the thermostat into 'heating' mode yet. I need to get that old pile of poo serviced this year. it's a heat pump that looks to be original to the house, so it's pushing 40 years old.

A few days ago I started the procedure to tighten the drive belts on the crusty T4R, ( 3.4) I had forgotten how miserable the tensioner design was for the PS pump. The main tensioner bolt got pretzeled when I tried to loosen the jam nut on the standoff that the bolt passes through. A few hours later I had it off of the engine and was fighting with trying to get the broken stud out of the standoff. ( or whatever Toyota calls it) I was trying to hand drill a hole through it to use a spiral extractor when this happened.

I've never had this happen before. I've had mediocre luck with left handed drill bits backing out bolts but never a right hand drill bit. I was overdue for a small break!

A trip to Rural king yielded me an M8 x 70 x1.25 flange head bolt that I needed to cut more threads onto ( to replace the broken Toyota bolt). I must have spent 2 hours trying to get the damn tensioner bolt to engage the threads of the stand off. Everything is an awkward position for getting tools into plus the hard PS lines are in the way. Definately not one of Toyotas better designs. Maybe Mike has suffered through the same thing in the past and can share a better way of attacking it next time.

    pretty decent Sarsaparilla soda

They probably go through a thousand pounds of sweet potatoes a year. We found out when we tried to dry some fresh ones out to make pies. The dogs got into them and we’ve been buying them ever since.

I just looked back through my text I picked up 4 boxes on 8/21/24 and they ran out last week. So this time I picked up 5 boxes instead at 40lbs per box. They are probably going through more than a thousand pounds a year then.

A little of this and a little of that.
    Good evening

October 1 and a decent day here. Finally got my yard cleaned up from the storm last week. I was very fortunate that my immediate area was not hit hard.

Good thoughts to you Mike, and your Uncle Joe and Aunt Martha. I was blessed with two really good Uncle’s and learned a lot from each of them. Remember the good times.
