A little of this and a little of that.
    :hattip:Good morning.

I took a flight to NY after work yesterday to visit with my parents. Helping with winter prep for a few days.

    Thanks Andy.

Good morning everybody! We have some rain in our forecast for tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it. I did some work on the cat house and changed a few things around to stop a pesky leak. I had a gutter above the transition of the shed roof coming off the side over what we call the catio. It probably would have been fine if it were seamless but I decided to scrap it all together. I went back with a proper transition piece and a 14” x17’ piece of flashing slid 12” under the metal roofing. If this doesn’t stop it I’m burning the dam thing down!IMG_3614.jpg IMG_3616.jpg
I also cut 2” off the rafter tails and replaced the facia board with plenty of overhang and a real drip edge. Looking at the pictures I need to actually trim out the windows on the inside and paint next. The little thugs shouldn’t have to look at untrimed windows  Maybe a window seat as well.

    Good morning and happy Tuesday.
I have deck railing posts on the morning agenda, as soon as the coffee maker turns on and starts making the magic juice.

I tested the coolant concentration in the GMC yesterday, apparently all that I have is green water, it's only good to 10° before freezing. I need to drain it again ang try to get all 4 gallons out this time

I was watching that weather pattern, I'm in the 'cold rain' zone for this one. We always seem to get a small snow event by the end of November then it warms back up until mid January. The end of January through mid March is when we get any snow.

    Thanks Andy!

Yup supposed to snow flurry here on Thursday also!

Glad to see I'm not the only person with a "catio".... My wife insisted.
Now about that flashing.... If you slid 12" or so back up under the pitched slope & then brought it down on to the lower slant as an over lap..... You will probably need some "birdstop" to keep it from going backwards up under there. Its really cheap & all your metal locations have it.

Installer tip on this: don't just trust it to seal down on its own.

A thin bead of silicone rubbed out on it before you put it in place is a plus. Then just screw thru on the high ribs.

Done a lot of this metal roofing & chasing a leak can be very frustrating. They run from spots you never expected.... All it takes is 1 screw too tight or loose from the others.

All that’s missing is the noise
don’t care now. I’ve let them know there’s a problem. Sooner or later someone will ask why I don’t have this done or that done. Then SHTF and IT has to explain why they haven’t addressed the issues.

Just joking, I do feel your frustration. I remember building houses with 200k in change orders and no time given to the completion date.:annoyed:
