Good morning. I need some coffee, I should have set up the coffee maker and set the timer last night.

I remember when I was a teenager, I had a paper route around my neighborhood. I would have a half dozen houses that I'd cut the lawns and shovel snow for.

It's amazing what comes to mind. What if the fire is next door? Get in the car and go. What if it is 2 miles away? Grab important stuff and go. What if the roads are jammed? get out and run.

All these things can and did happen

the fire that consumed our home… started 22 MILES away. It covered that ground in less than 72 hours. (I should go back and look at the actual time line  I think it was closer to 36 hours. )

    Morning all.

Road trip to Flag for errands and get supplies for the intake/rodent exclusion mod ‍:annoyed:

it’s a nice trip but 3 hours round trip is a waste of my time. Can we please accelerate the Star Trek Transporter machine production?

I had a guy that would make it hard for me to collect, think he worked midnights. I’d carry him for a few weeks, then I see him in his yard or something, he made it worth my while, huge tip , like an extra $5

I choose to live in this area, dry scrubland with occasional windstorms, and yes earthquakes

Once or twice in 30 years is acceptable to me.

I "may" have dented a storm door or 2 during my tenure. We had orange plastic sleeves to wrap the papers during the winter time. One time in the school library I learned about Pancho Villa, it gave me the idea of carrying 2 delivery bags so that I wouldn't have to reload. It was a load on the BMX bike but it speeded things up.

Did you have those big tan rubber bands for the Sunday supplements? I had one old guy on my route that was a notorious PIA to pay, he had the general attitude that he shouldn't have to pay and he always tried to haggle on how much he was going to pay. He had a small poodle that was always trying to attack me while I waited for him to cough up some dough. One time the dog was jumping and snapping at my face, I asked him to call the dog and he said something to the effect that the bite wouldn't hurt too much. I reached into my pocket and cocked the brown rubber band and shot the dog in the face, it took off screaming into the basement.

He gave me the money and cancelled his subscription the next day. Victory was mine!
