Positive thoughts for your MiL

Might be a Pinkerton! Years ago our piping company was contracted in at the plant I started the fire at I mentioned the other week. Well they had a temp that ran a forklift through a short block wall and knocked it over. More of a barrier and they didn’t can him looking back it established him as somewhat of a f up. He started hanging with the heads after a couple months they busted about a dozen folks for distribution. One of them went to school a couple years ahead of me at Buford where I went he got probation and went to work with us as a helper. I had no idea there still was a Pinkerton agency till he told us the whole story. So when all the worst of the lot come to trial here’s Mr f up all cleaned up and he’s the star witness.

 

Looking back it was probably a good thing for my friend. Changed his path and he recently retired and turned out quite successful.

I used to run a warehouse in the 80's had a 15 ft forklift to reach a second story mfg area. I was good at it after a while.
I went on vacation and came back to a big hole in the wall.

 

The dog isn’t even here yet and MermAndy is already taking shelter to hide from it.

 

My riding buddy and I were supposed to go for a ride today to get a burger. I got a text at about 9:30 last night: Gotta cancel tomorrow, in the ER.

He has Miniere's Disease and has worked through a lot in the last 8 or so years due to balance problems, vertigo and the like. Miniere's is an inner ear disorder. He's lost all hearing in his right ear and much of his hearing in the left because of it. He has a Cochlear implant for his right side hearing. He's 78.

So, last night, he stood up off a bench and had what they call a 'drop attack'...basically, he blacked out. Knocked out a couple of teeth and got 15 stitches in his forehead. He's never had that happen before.

I'm fearing his days of riding may be over. What had been kept in check for several years is now unpredictable again. Worse still, he now has no warning that there's a problem...it just hits. He texted me this morning that he may limit his riding to just his sidecar rig, but I'm wondering if his Dr is going to allow him to continue driving at all. We were hoping to get a bunch of riding in when I retired, but only rode maybe 3 times last year...haven't ridden yet this year for various reasons.

Time catches up to all of us.

Tis the time of year for stressed trees to die. After giving the beetles some time to lay eggs in the logs, they'll become firewood or board feet.

 

I feel for him. I have Meniere’s as well. I was right ear only in 2003, and in 2020, my left ear started and I am now what they call bilateral Meniere’s. Vertigo sucks and I also have wild fluctuations of hearing on what’s left in my left ear (right ear is >55 db gone). Some days I can’t hear shit, then I get some back in that left side, usually after a vertigo spell. Tell him there’s hope: a new Meniere’s drug is going through approval now at FDA and hoping for market release by end of next year.
