Took the new waders out for their maiden voyage today. So far so good. They’re pretty comfy and best of all keep me dry. I am going to have to learn how to walk in them, little different than my last waders. My old boots had a little step/notch at the heel and I relied on being able to hook that on a rock to keep me from sliding around. New boots don’t have that. Not sure that I need to add studs to the boots or if I just need a little practice.
Ended up with Simms Tributary waders because A) they actually make women’s specific fit and men’s stuff was just too wonky in proportions for me. And B) Simms is based in Bozeman so I went straight to the factory store and got them there.
And got Orvis Clearwater boots. They were the most comfortable for me after trying on boots from every brand available in 12 different stores in 4 different cities

    ACTUALLY….
The men’s waders were way more “roomy” on the top
I tried on a bunch at the local fly shop and just tried on everything they had to see what worked and didn’t because the sizing charts online meant nothing to me. They didn’t have my exact right size in the women’s so I tried on the men’s just to see how they compared and if that would be a viable option for me. Well the leg part fit fine but the chest part was huge! I came out of the fitting room and asked the shop owner what the hell? I know why women might need extra space up top but what the hell did guys need all that extra room for?!?! He started laughing and I was laughing. Then another customer walked in and looked at the two of us like what the hell did I just interrupt?!?

Just the front,95’ old friend of mine lived out there. He passed away a few years ago, he gave me his old plate when he got Michigan plates. He told me, Jimmy you gotta get out there, Mark was a cool guy.
