Obligatory sea food dinner. Soft Shell Crab and the view from the restaurant. Notice the rain clouds building in the background.
After packing up in the rain. As close as I could get to the beach. NO motorcycles allowed on the beach. I thought about going further but figured I'd be the one to get stuck right as the popo came along!

The road to the beach was crushed sea shells.
The start of the Trans America Trail. Hatteras Lighthouse which of course is under construction. Not as tall as I was expecting.
Waiting for the 1st ferry. More cars came and somehow we all fit. I was the last one on and they had me squeeze in.
Pamlico Sound and Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.
2nd ferry. First one on and pull straight into the railing and they chock the back tire.
    No gas!
Did I mention the rain?? Rookie mistake buried the rain gear and thought I could beat the storm!!

View from the top of Arkansas. 75 up top. 105 in the valley.
Thought it was a snake at first. Armadillo tail. Wife asked why I didn't "save it by pulling the tail out of the pvc pipe"!

    Can you guess my path!!
    Storm progression
Seemed like this was the forecast the whole time!! It was 102 on Friday when I went thru

Hope you enjoyed all the photos. There are a LOT more. Would I do it again? Maybe. I would go earlier in the year for the eastern section. Ride a lighter bike if the weather was like this. The mud was very tough riding so I skipped a lot of the Trail and did parallel paved roads. Overall it didn't go as planned but was still fun at times! Wife wants to go for 4 day ride on the Idaho Backcountry Discovery Route later this summer.

felt like it. Thought for sure I'd see funnel clouds in Oklahoma. Temperature dropped 20 degrees in minutes. There was rotation in the clouds and an updraft of dirt from a field outside of town but nothing happened other than heavy rain and wind.

I had a morning in western Arkansas almost to Oklahoma that had me wishing I’d hung out at the hotel for a bit. Rained cat and dogs with high winds and black skies.
