FYI during WWII, General Patton trained his army in the desert. At a place aptly called Desert Center, CA. Its halfway between Indio and Blythe, CA along I-10. I understand that happened 1942-44. That's rough work.
I've been there. I think about that/them and I really can't complain about the heat.

General Patton – Desert Training Center
By 1942, Desert Center had very few residents. It was then that the Army, under the direction of Maj. General George S. Patton, established the Desert Center Army Air Field and the Camp Desert Center[7] to support operations in the California-Arizona Maneuver Area.[8] The base covered 18,000 square miles (47,000 km2).[9] Its purpose was to train troops for combat in the deserts of North Africa against the forces of German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel. The enormous operation came to a close in 1944, when the Allies were victorious in the North African theatre. A museum honoring Patton and his training complex is located in Chiriaco Summit.[10]

After the military's departure, the town became quiet again, remaining relatively unchanged as the old U.S. Route 60/70 was replaced by Interstate 10.
Today this delightful resort's weather is:

A Portuguese Queen requested prayers from the Catholics. If she got pregnant she would build them a church

May I present to you, the church of the knocked-up Queen

    Good evening, gang.

I thought that it looked a wee bit like a rainbow trout, so I had to get some education about your fishes. It's a Salmon of sorts. Does it taste like a Sockeye or anything like that?

@CVYota- Awesome pics, Andy. Is there any culture shock ?

just dropped thru for a sec....

none of the poll items were bad on a cut.

when i grew up you only got mercurichome or iodine if you were a good boy & it wasnt your own fault for needing it.

if you had been a bad kid or got the scratch/cut from evil thoughts/actions ? you got methoilate & a spoonful of castor oil...

my Nana's intentions were that if you did something bad it was the work of the devil & you needed to burn/suffer that nonsense out of you.
