I consider it a win/ win. I made well over $100 in the time it would have taken me to learn, do, go buy parts that I messed up, pull the damaged part(s) out, and redo the work. The opportunity to learn how to do it will arise again. I have too many irons in the fire right now.

On another fun 2nd gen note: my truck went over 12 years without a secondary air injection system failure, buy my dealer kept bugging me to do it on warranty. In February I let them do the work. Yesterday the truck threw 3 SAIS codes and went into limp mode on my way to work. I called to let them know I'd be in. This morning they cleared the codes and we made an appointment for them to redo the work.

My Taco through a code for that early last year. I opted to do the Hewitt bypass verse spending the money to repair it OEM. If you're having to spend money to repair it again you might want to look into their kit.
