Glad to hear you are on the mend, @Bluegrass Taco. Last time it hit me, I had just traveled to Rochester, NY for a 2 week training, 830 am and I felt the kidney stone start to kick in. It took a week to pass and I just wanted to be home in my bed.

Well to make you all feel great, not only did we not get rain but it was about 70 and I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt today.

Last night was one of the local high schools winter formal dance. A girl from another school ask out my son, she is stunning and it took us all by surprise. Especially my son. She knows him from pre-school and has had a crush on him...damn I miss my youth.

Not at all, he is doing better than I did. I guess I wish I was 17 again...sometimes.

Good Morning, All ! The office is open this morning, and on time, which means it opened a few minutes ago. Late shift for me, so 10:30 start time. Really do not like that shift. Morning person so I'm awake by 6:00 anyway.

Corny Joke Of The Day: Daddy, Mommy, and Baby Tomato walking down the street. Baby Tomato is lagging behind so Daddy Tomato goes back and squishes him and says "Ketchup".

Don't get squished today and have a good one !

    Good morning

16" more than the previous record which was from the storm of 93 that I mentioned, that is a lot. There is a reason all those Brevard County, Fl. license plates disappear from Asheville NC in the winter, they are back in Florida in the winter. Still love it there though.

Supposed to get freezing rain this morning and snow later today and tonight, may warm up to 30. So went to the hardware store to pick up more salt yesterday as I like to have at least n+1 on hand during the winter. Very little snow melt left most of the stacks of salt were replaced by Preen and garden stuff. It will be mid to late April before we even see bare frozen ground with no snow cover. One of those things that keeps me scratching my head muttering WTH?

The truth Marty! My first year here it didn't get down into the below zero range until early January and I didn't have a pair of gloves warm enough for that. Went glove shopping and the stores all had shorts for sale with no gloves available, sheesh!

I don't normally go to Facebook much but thought I'd check for any updates on my mother and sister in NC. One of the first pictures that popped up in the feed was from a guard on duty at the tomb of the unknown soldier. One of the Army recruiters in Hendersonville NC had been stationed there doing this, it was amazing to listen to him tell how much work they go through before going on watch each time and the attention to detail. He said they also did burial detail at Arlington. This was from the 23rd.

There are many great military traditions. The guarding of the tomb of the unknown soldier is one of the best due to what it stands for and represents. One of my other favorite traditions is the POW/MIA table at military functions. Outstanding stuff.

I just walked back in the house from an office visit with the Urologist. For about the 10th time, I told him what was wrong, watched the look of doubt come across his face, just so I could hear him make excuses as to why he didn't immediately follow up on what I had to say.... Silly doctors.....

They've been feeding me an antibiotic for 3 weeks that obviously wasn't doing the job. I told him this morning there was still an infection. He questioned that and told me things "looked perfectly normal" to him. Before I pulled in the driveway, the phone rang. Urologist office.....Culture test showed an infection that is on a list that the first antibiotic WON'T work on. New one called in. I'm waiting on the pharmacist to tell me it's ready, THEN I can get this wrapped up.

The last thing on earth I want to do is to sound like a know-it-all.....But....Even with his medical degree, fancy office, modern equipment, and even years of experience......This doctor can't feel the pain I feel. He can't know my body (and it's functions) like I do. Why can't they just shut up and LISTEN sometimes....? I hope he takes this as a learning opportunity so the NEXT poor S O B doesn't have to go through what I've been through

I piss off some doctors sometimes but I don't care, it's my health and my life. First thing I ask a new doctor I'm seeing: Where did you go to school, what was your GPA and your standing in the class ?

I've lost a child in a situation a competent doctor likely would have saved him. I've lost a grandmother to cancer just three months after a doctor told her the bleeding was just from polyps.

Having a doctorate degree doesn't always mean they are competent doctors, might just mean they had the time, patience and money to attend so many years of school.

My employer pays for 80% of ANY continuing education we work on. I took advantage of that and stayed the course all the way to a Masters..... During the process of earning degrees at age nearly double that of some of my "classmates", I always offer them this small bit of advice; (Some listen, some just write it off as some old fart that time passed by)

You may find you know far more than you ever imagined possible......Doesn't mean you know it all.
You should never assume that you've learned everything there is to learn. They come up with "new knowledge" every day.
You should assume text books are YESTERDAYS facts, and TOMORROW'S mistakes.
Even the most "chiseled in stone" facts can be wrong every now and then.
It's NOT what you know that'll kill you, it's what you DON'T know.

We had a 4 hour delay then around 9 this morning the base went to "restricted access" so no work. Sometimes it's nice being a non essential person :)

Haha... in my career field, I was always considered "non-essential personnel" too. Yep, some days it's nice not to be needed.

I'm lucky where I work and live, some of the best Docs in the world. Even then a few don't listen, but most don't seem to have the God complex I've run into at many other places. I'll take an old school doc that first listens and starts off with a reply- it isn't our standard practice but IMO.... My personal Doc is an old school Tn. man about my age that wears a bowtie. We get along great :)

I am surrounded with PhD's also. Kind of a standing joke that PhD stands for Piled Higher and Deeper. But can't generalize them all some good ones there too. The ones that worry me the most are the ones that are too ignorant to know what they don't know!
