I was increasing staffing by 2. Still need 2 at this point. Todays interview wasn't very promising. She wanted almost double what we have to pay and that's with limited experience.

Stale donuts today..... Got a sales meeting @ 8. Told him to bring breakfast. We'll see where that gets me.

Then a staff meeting. Too much high school drama with some of my crew here of late. Gonna lay down the law to a couple of 'em. The YOUNGEST is 43. Time to grow up. No more "He said/she said" allowed.

Could be worse, Bluegrass. One of the teams I managed during my USAF career was a team of 11 people and 9 of them were young women aged 19 - 23. Think about that for a minute. Well, probably only took your brain 2 seconds to think about that. ;)

    Go get 'em !

First summer after I got out of the Army, I coached a girls softball team. About mid season, they got in a fight with another team. Probably the closest I ever came to getting killed! Me, the other coach, and the 2 umpires just backed away and let 'em wear each other out.

I have one employee that when asked to do something he says he cant because his back, head, neck or arm hurts and he can't do it. So I said if you have all these ailments and cant complete your assigned tasks you need to get a Dr's note with your works limits. He then threatens to sue me and the company for harassment since he is over 50......

Good morning everyone! Standing by for a blizzard here good day to work from home if there ever was. And likely tomorrow. Yesterday driving back from picking up the pup from doggie day care I saw this along the road just outside of town

Wish I seen this more often around here wouldn't have to drive 600 miles to chase them down.

The invasive red threat from China, the wild ringneck pheasant. Most in the picture are roosters (long tails). I try to do my part to control the spread of the invasive species ;) Some States raise and release them but here they are naturally reproducing and you can only shoot the roosters in season. Losing habit fast though and they need cover, see fewer and fewer of them.

    Where's my soap box?

    Gotta rant.

I put an ad on Craigslist for some FREE scrap aluminum. Another time and place, I'd haul it off myself. Just don't have time at the moment. There's over 1200lbs of heavy aluminum extrusions. 18' long, 12" wide. Can be easily sawed into shorter lengths (with a sawzall) I'm GIVING them away.

First caller wants me to haul 'em to the scrap yard for him.

Second caller wants me to PAY him to haul 'em off.

3rd caller starts by asking me if I have insurance in case he gets hurt loading them.

4th caller wants me to saw 'em up and load them into his truck, and tells me he's in a hurry and only has 1/2-hour.

I deleted the ad. I'll haul 'em off myself when I get time.

Like the old saying goes, "No good deed goes unpunished".

That is classic, 'haul them to the scrap yard for me and send me the money.'

Just last year I gave away a propane grill... big sucker too. It was dual propane and charcoal, about six feet long and heavy. Guy calls me, said he'll be very glad to take it off my hands, he'll come over in a couple hours. Guy shows up in a pick up truck, nobody to help him, and he's in a wheelchair. Let me tell you, the two of us got that thing in his truck but I'm still not sure how. Next time, I'll know to ask... you bringing help? Are you in a wheelchair ?

Well....Meeting (@ work) went well. We'll see how the results play out over time. My sales guy didn't bring me breakfast. Kinda didn't expect that. Finally got an intelligent reply to the Craigslist ad. Aluminum gone.

Pouring down rain as we speak. Up to 2" by midnight. We're in a tornado watch box right now. Lightening and an occasional rumble of thunder.

Time for Jepardy! Then AgPhd. Then the sandman visits! See y'all in the AM!

Having lived in Tornado Alley for 11 years and earthquake capital of the world for 4 years, I'll take the tornados... some warning they are likely coming... most of the time. But be careful, listen to the news, stay alert.
