I have seen this too at the local pharmacy but it said over 60, I would rather get it asap if it works.
When we were young the thought here was to make sure the kids got the chicken pox so they were immune later in life. They would actually take us over to the house of a sick kid. They had no idea it was related to shingles.

 

If they call out, do you get OT pay ... or are you salary now? I can't remember what you said when you took the manager position.

 

Well they call it salary but we still get OT and holiday pay. So I don't think of it as salary, but they can call it whatever they want as long as the checks keep coming!

 

I got chicken pox when I was 15 because I agreed to babysit some kids who had it, assuming I had it when I was little. Turns out I was wrong...

... And yeah, I babysat, cut lawns, chopped firewood, painted houses, did any form of yardwork from the time I was 12 until I got my supermarket job at 16. Anything to turn a buck...people laugh when I tell them I've been employed in some form since I was 12 years old.

 

As long as it's still extra cash for extra work ... Then yeah, call it "hossenfrossentossen" for all I care. That's good. A lot of salary folk get screwed on the call out deals.

 

They stopped paying us for hossenfrossentossen standby. Now we are expected to have no plans on the weekend or we get in trouble...good luck.

Rob, the Social Security people send out those things every once in a while that tell when you started paying into it. My wife and daughter about fainted the first time they saw mine. At 10 I worked for a neighbor on the farm and when he paid me he took out SS. So it shows I started paying in at 10.

On the shingles vaccine thing, I had a physical in July because I couldn't pass a respirator fit test for work. They told me I had COPD, but when I got the physical they gave me the shingles vaccine.

Union? Nope. We actually have it good without. Standby pay is the only thing we lost, and we got mad...so I guess that makes me an entitled whiner.

And you're 58 right? I wonder does the COPD diagnosis thing put you in a risk status that they want you to have the vaccine? Hope the COPD is minor????
