    @Casper66

    If it makes you feel better. Doesn't look like much in pic but that scratch happened between test drive and me signing papers but nobody knew anything about it. I don't wear jewelry. This was a brand new truck so there shouldn't have been any scratches anywhere.tmp_4425-20170118_1206301633990212.jpg

    Been looking at it since 2007.

    First time I used the hi-lift the truck slid and the top of the lift gouged the pass door, been staring at that for 5 years.

    I always wondered why people opened the door when they used the hi-lift :anonymous:

    Note to self.
    I have Smitty tube steps bolted on. Hope I never have to use them to lift truck. I don't think I'll like the outcome.

    That's what I was about to say. Always hearing people say open the door or you'll get a dent. Didn't know why.

    No, I wouldn't recommend attempting that one.

    I was going to suggest that until I saw you posted that. Yes I learned it from experience, it was a long time ago. Have had a lot of experience with hi lifts mainly back in my younger days. And it would usually start with here hold my beer and watch this. Well not quite but in retrospect too close to it.

    The jack both sliding sideways and kicking out are somewhat too common. I picked up a Bogert Manufacturing Hi Lift safe jack base plate when they first came out. it really helps prevent kicking out and sliding. They have changed it to a universal base plate now though, I paid ~$100 for mine when they were first released. Now they have a universal plate to take both hi lift and bottle jacks and want $280 for the thing, not sure I would have paid that for mine. Then again if you ever have had your jack kick back at you... You probably already know to keep your head and other body parts away from that handle I'm sure!

    https://safejacks.com/collections/hi-lift-jack-accessories/products/universal-combination-stabilizer

    There were times when I was much younger and get high centered that I would lift my FJ55 by the rear hitch until it was as tall as I could get it then push the truck forward to clear it. Of course the top of the jack would make a dent in the rear tailgate every time, but not always a lot of options. We kind of just figured out things on our own back then and if it was bad you were taken out of the gene pool. Pretty sure I used up a lot of dumb luck.

    The safe jack uses cables that attach to the base on either side from the top of the jack and stabilizes it against movement. Seems like someone could do something for a lot cheaper. Bogert Manufacturing makes recovery gear for military vehicles so that may have something to do with the price. But it is pretty well designed and solid stuff.

    Doctor was a bust. No progress. He really wants to do a cordizone shot he says he can't tell if the pain is from the tear or from the arthrittis and lack of any Labrum hardly left. He says there is deffinately a tear but can't tell if it's a retear or was never fixed completely. He's affraid to give me a cordizone shot because of what it may do to my blood sugar without a doctors approval. So I'm pretty well stuck.
