I'm hoping to to retire while still in my 50's if all works out. Seen too many folks over the years that just keep on working right up until they leave this world.

    No just breathe thru mouth.
    Nose is running out here.
Plan on staying inside mostly today. Back is still a little tight. Was in a weird position hanging a cabinet.

As a plumber I understand. Really easy to get down. Getting up is a chore.

I've seen the same, but I've also watched people start to die the minute they stop working. It's not about the time we are given, but what we do with that time.

    Yea
Flag up, all hell breaks loose. Tackling, tripping, kinda like a royal rumble. And that's just to get to the snowmobile if the hole is far away. Have hung on to the back of a snowmobile handle while getting sprayed with snow and ice. Yeup that didn't work out so well.

Yesterday wife said there'd be alot more room in kitchen if it weren't for fridge.
She had a point. I measured in utility around corner and I can move fridge there. I have to move some shelving but I can't wait. I'm the cook and I've always hated our kitchen so I didn't replace over fridge cabinet. We will gain 3' of wall cabinets and counter so that'll be a 4-1/2' counter next to stove!

Here most of the ice shantys have numbers on them and the local or sometimes not so local pizza places deliver pizza on snowmobiles to them. Gesh not sure if that is a step forward or backwards.

The movie Grumpy Old Men was filmed near here.

I'm 58 and had planned to retire for good this year. Until the divorce now it is 67 for me. Could do it sooner but would take one heck of a hit. At least I have a job don't mind doing. Most days anyhow, some days are worse than others. My father told me once you get into your 50's any type of work starts to become just that, work. I've come to realize that he was a very smart man.

I've seen the same exact thing. People ask me what I would do to keep busy when I retire and I just stare at them. There are so many things to do that work interfers with life at this point. And very well said!

Out of idle curiosity why wait till 67 ? You ever do the math, I just pulled it up according to CDC avg life span for males is 76.6 https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr65/nvsr65_04.pdf Table 7, this is what you get plugging in generic numbers https://smartasset.com/retirement/social-security-calculator#u1ZAOaV4yX

Social Security Benefits if you begin claiming at age: 62
    $21,656

Social Security Benefits if you begin claiming at age: 67
    $31052.00

Using the CDC Avg 76.6 not the SS Admin Avg of 84.3 and 45K a year salary.

    76.6-62 = 14.6 So: 14.6 yrs x 21656.00 = 316177.00
    76.6-67=9.6 So: 9.6 yrs x 31052.00= 298099.00

Of course all things are relevant your health , locale etc etc

If you use the SS Admin Avg Age:
    https://www.ssa.gov/planners/lifeexpectancy.html

    84.3-62=22.3 So: 22.3 x $21656.00 = $482928.8
    84.3-67= 17.3 So: 17.3 x $31052.00 = $537.199.6

    Now here we see a total of 54270.8 Difference Which might make more sense if SS is the only thing you have coming in. The question is whose avg life span do you believe .. And again only you know the health and other relevant factors along with your financial status involved. So if you have not yet perhaps sit down with a professional and have them figure everything up . You might be surprised I personally know 2 guys who thought they had to keep working till full retirement but after sitting down with a retirement planner and seeing all the numbers together lol they realized they were loosing money coming to work. You have to factor in what you need to live on along with what you will no longer be putting out to go to work. Just some thoughts :}

No retirement for at least 9 years, 65 is the goal. I have to sit down with the retirement planner at work, he crunches the numbers and tells you what you need to do to get there.

In the meantime here are some more fishing pics for Mike.
