Sounds like a whole lot of people will be fighting with ice today. That is a tough battle and not much good comes from ice. Don't recall ever hating it so much in my life before, or having so much of it. Be safe!

Spent the morning so far getting ready for snow. Don't much care for snow either but will take it over ice anytime.

Confirmed 2 and just a bit inches of wet sleet. Stupid heavy stuff too. The quad pushed it but it wasn't happy at all... (88 Polaris Trail Boss 4X4 250 2stroke). I had to clean the sidewalk with a shovel - ugh my poor back!

    Rant warning....

I had to take Dad to see his cardiologist this morning. It was fairly slick out from the sleet and when we got to the office at the customary 15-20 minutes before the scheduled time (walk in at 9:40 for a 10am appt), there was one other person there. This office is notorious for making you wait - a long time - over two hours (yup, two actual hours)... As we are at the window checking in, they call the person in ahead of us (9:41am - yes, I looked). I thought - GREAT! we'll be in and out fairly quickly. 10:15 they call Dad in. Nurse takes his vitals, reviews meds, and says "The Doctor is running behind, take a seat and we'll call you in"!!! As we sit and wait, calls are coming in with cancellations to the front desk. The call us to the examination room at 10:38am and the nurse says "The doctor will be with you in a few"... A few minutes later, I hear the person before us walk out to the exiting receptionist. Wait, wait, wait some more and he finally walks in around 11:05. Over an hour wait from the scheduled time; again... I swear, the doctor must have gone out for coffee break.

Sounds like the VA med system , when at my VA Ortho appts they're normally 2.5 hrs behind by the time the clinic is open @ 0800hrs . I once had an appt at 0830hrs and wasn't seen until almost 1200hrs . A 3.5 hour wait for a ten min visit

Seems to be the norm nowadays.

I told my son the doctor used to come to the house when I was sick, he didn't believe me until the doctor confirmed it.

My primary care guy is notoriously slow so I book the first appointment in the morning. He still shows up a little late! But he spends A LOT of time with me. That's what makes him late; doing a good job, going the extra mile, taking the time to make sure the patient has everything they need. I know that about him so even when I have to wait I'm okay with it.

Meanwhile some other doctors make me wait and then almost shove me out of the exam room as fast as they can. Grr.

Hope you guys in the ice are making out OK. Bob you didn't sound like you had a great start and I know your driveway is a lot like mine.

I just got back from picking up my oldest son from a Dr. appointment. He didn't walk out until 17 minutes after it was supposed to be over. Guess I better calm down now after reading some of these posts.

Glad I am not the only one that had that thought. On the other hand if it was a truck instead might have had a clue :)

6-9 inches either side of I-90 they are guessing now. Starting with ice of course. Never seen this from NOAA before.
    snowWarning.jpg
Now NOAA is making medical recommendations and advertising for snow removal services. I do recall at one time the highest spikes in male heart attacks was shoveling snow and dragging a deer out of the woods though.

My morning started shitty, still not happy not looking to chat about it but got up this morning let the house pup out. Walked out there with him looked over toward the working dog kennel noticed a 2 huge spots of what I thought were urine on the concrete. I walked over and there was many piles of throw up the huge spots of urine were not they were blood. Argos was laying where he normally slept when not in his box and had passed away right there. Still waiting an autopsy to find out what hell happened . He was fine playing ball about noon, fine when I fed him at approx 2100 hrs. Last call for the house pup at approx 2330hrs he was fine looked out the gate at me and went and laid down. When I let the house pup out at 0800hrs he was gone. I know nothing more at this time and It is what it is. I can not even hazard a guess what happened as it does not match any known medical issue I have been taught or know about personally. Work picked him up took pictures and samples of everything food and biscuits too and all went to the vet. I spent most of the day cleaning, bleaching, scrubbing everything out there.

Guardians Of The Night Author - Unknown

Trust in me my friend for I am
your comrade. I will protect you
with my last breath When all
others have left you And the
    loneliness of the night closes
in, I will be at your side.

    Together we will conquer all
    obstacles, And search out
those who might wish harm to
others. All I ask of you is
    compassion, The caring touch
of your hands. It is for you that I
will unselfishly give my life And
    spend my nights unrested.
    Although our days together
May be marked by the passing
of the seasons Know that each
day at your side is my reward.

My days are measured by The
    coming and going of your
    footsteps. I anticipate them at
every opening of the door. You
are the voice of caring when I
am ill. The voice of authority
    when I've done wrong.

Do not chastise me unduly For
I am your right arm, The sword
at your side. I attempt to do
only what you bid of me. I seek
only to please you and remain
    in your favor.

    Together you and I shall
    experience A bond only others
    like us will understand When
    outsiders see us together Their
envy will be measured by their
    disdain.

I will quietly listen to you And
pass no judgment, Nor will your
spoken words be repeated I will
    remain ever silent, Ever vigilant,
ever loyal. And when our time
together is done And you move
on in the world Remember me
    with kind thoughts and tales,
For a time we were unbeatable,
    Nothing passed among us
    undetected.

If we should meet again on
another street I will gladly take
up your fight, I am a Police
    Working Dog and together We
    are guardians of the night.

Argos will be missed but joins a great crew on the other side of the bridge.

Please leave it at that ladies and gentlemen.
