    This for the generac ? If so look up the instructions for it mine tells you to let it idle for 30 secs on choke. I have forgotten that and it will sit there and surge and hunt for an idle speed . Do not know if yours has that restriction mine is a GP6500E

    I have a Honda 3000 at work and it surges and hunts sometimes. I wonder if it has to have that 30 seconds on choke too?

    Page 35 of the manual / page 37 according to adobe . Yours does not appear to have that requirement but it does tell you to wait before turning on economy mode..

    Now that you say that, it doesn't do it all the time, only when I start it in economy mode. I'll flip it to off and it runs smooth. If I start it in the off position it usually starts fine and runs smooth and when I turn it on it runs like it's supposed to. Mine is pretty cold blooded and have to ease the choke back in over several minutes. This generator is still almost new. I may have only ran 3 stanks of gas through, but it is ready for a service.

    Yeah it is amazing what happens when you page through the manual. :} Yeah Mine gave me fits when it was brand new as it is not on the quick start guide printed on the generator so went and looked it up lol found out yep leave idle on choke for 30 seconds minimum :}
