Now I was told many many moons ago by a real old fucker, jesus, he was my age at the time,at wide open throttle if a vacuume gauge did not read 0, you needed a bigger carb. I told him I was to dam busy to look at a gauge except for the tach. I'll take your word for it. I never proved it one way or the other..

 

That's why I eat better at work. Mandatory breaks.

 

Going bigger in Carb CFM usually is worth 3-4 tenths in ET and 5-10mph increase

 

If you have a higher rpm cam then the more in more out theory would work. If you not running that then the total cfm would be lower then the carb puts out. Then in theory you lose lower end throttle response. There is a formula somewhere to figure it out..

yea you may need a little more carb.
I ran a 780 vac sec. But I had a 6800 cam I think. If I had raced it more I would have put a 850 on it as I was past my calculations for rpm. But it ran real nice around town..
